The Romantic Sea Side Penthouse is directly on the water on the second floor of a traditionally designed West Indian home in "hip & trendy / restaurant friendly" charming Island Harbor and featuring spectacular sunrise and sunset views from its large verandahs complemented by a sea side deck with a sliding ladder allowing for easy access into the Caribbean waters for wonderful snorkeling and within easy access to Anguilla's beautiful beaches and fun beach bars as well as its local and gourmet restaurants.
The space
The open plan layout brings the outside in and the inside out with the living / dining areas opening onto a wide verandah which overlooks and is just steps from the sea with a luxurious bedroom boasting wonderful see side panoramas with a sea side deck accessed down a tree covered walkway and is a wonderful spot for sunset (or sunrise) libations. The Retreat is comfortably and eclectically furnished and is a uniquely romantic accommodation featuring hardwood louvered doors with a traditional stained wood ceiling and polished hardwood floors and boasts nearly 900 sq ft of "Caribbean Cool" interior living space and has just over 800 sq ft of outdoor covered verandah area providing a total of of 1,700 sq ft of combined Caribbean bliss.
Guest access
The entire Penthouse is yours, so enjoy the views and privacy--please know there is a flight of stairs to the Penthouse entry but no stairs within the Penthouse itself. Guests have full and completely unfettered private use of the Penthouse as well as its verandahs and side patios along with (potentially shared) use of the coastal deck and its sliding ladder that provide access into the sea (for marvelous snorkeling) and is augmented by an outdoor shower (for after swimming rinsing) all of which combine for a uniquely casual yet elegant Caribbean experience.
The easiest and best way to get to the Retreat is to drive or take a taxi from the airport or ferry terminal--pls know I have a car available for rent for those who wish to avoid the hassle of a car rental company whereby I provide complementary ferry / airport return services for guests who rent my rental car.
Other things to note
The Penthouse is on the top floor of my two story home that is down a driveway from a quiet side road ensuring privacy as only the roof of the villa can be seen from the access road--I fell in love with the property 20 years ago and love it daily to this day. Although I've lived on Anguilla for over 40 years and have traveled extensively I've never found a property I'd rather own--and am now happy to share.

I moved to Anguilla in 1977 and other than the two years I spent in construction at 75 State Street in Boston @1987-88 and earning a Masters Degree in Real Estate Development from MIT in Cambridge @ 1988-89, I've lived and worked on island consistently (and lovingly).
Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?
The PR is in "hip and trendy / restaurant friendly" Island Harbour on the less touristed East End of the island. Renting a car is the best way to enjoy Anguilla as getting lost is nearly impossible given our small size however if you manage to get lost anyone you pass road will guide you to where you want to go--there aren't any "bad" areas of the island to worry about as crime is below nominal...I own a small Toyota that i make available for rent for guests if they so choose
Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?
My Penthouse Retreat is located on Captain's Ridge which is east of Island Harbour, Anguilla's picturesque traditional fishing village--from your veranda you'll be able to watch small local fishing boats going out to their fish pots in the morning and returning home in the evening as the sun sets with easy water access so you never have to go far to see fish! And as for fish, the snorkeling from the Retreat's waterfront deck is superb.
