Stayed January 2020!
We spent New Year's week in Puerto Rico, with this being our second stop. We rented the bottom unit (the top unit was rented by a pleasant Canadian family). My kids keep raving that this was their favorite home of our trip. After booking, I was a little nervous, given the newest vbro reviews were from 2017. However, I learned that the home was closed due to renovations after the hurricane and back available late 2019. We ended up flying to Vieques via VAL from San Juan; that flight was much easier than the Ferry. We rented a Jeep, which is truly needed on the island and Jeeps are no longer available for rent through Cookie/Jose. The property manager, Aurelio, was super helpful and responsive to all my questions. He met us at the car rental location and lead us to the house, which was less than 5 minutes from Isabel II. The roads to the house are a bit crazy, but so is driving on Vieques in general. My US Verizon cell service was worthless for GPS navigation, but my husband's AT&T service worked well. The home had air conditioners in each room, a good washer/dryer set, an ample kitchen/fridge, and the kids liked the pool and tv. The back deck had a fantastic view where you could see the ocean, watch iguanas bask in the treetops, and listen to the sounds of Vieques (music, roosters, and dogs). I'd fully recommend a stay at Cookie's Paradise. Enjoy!
Thank you for your review. Reviews really help me since , Hurricane Maria really took a toll on this beautiful island. Aurelio (property manager) also stated you were very good guests.
A wonderful vacation with my family made amazing with Cookie's Paradise.
My husband and I went to Vieques 5 years ago and stayed at the Blue Horizon on the south side of the island. We loved it so much, we wanted to share the experience with our children ages 15, 10, and 8. First of all, we were concerned about how we were going to get to the property once departing the ferry. Isabel, the property manager offered to pick us up from the ferry and take us to the property, where there were three vehicles available to rent. We chose the four door Jeep which interior and exterior were like brand new. When we arrived to the property behind the gate, there was a paradise to behold. It sits on a mountain where there are lush tropic forests and an ocean view. There is quite an expanse of deck to relax and enjoy all the surroundings. My children loved the pool as it was very clean with bath water temperatures. Indoors, everything was clean, kitchen fully stocked, and many towels for showering and going to the beach. Air conditioning was in the main room and the three bedrooms. The back master bedroom had a bit more trouble staying cool, however, my husband and I understood that this is the end of August close to the equator. Isabel was a wonderful host, available for anything we needed. I highly recommend Cookie's Paradise for an unforgettable family vacation,
Great home for a great island vacation
We stayed in the lower level of this 2 level house. It was the perfect size for our family of 6. The rooms were clean and beautiful. Everything on the island feels like just a few minutes away. In addition to the luxurious pool that we all loved, the house also had beach chairs, umbrellas and cooler for our daily trips to snorkeling the coral reefs. We loved staying here so much, we plan to stay here again and invite more family to fill both levels. One thing to note - 2 of the 3 bedrooms and the kitchen/living area had great A/C. The owners were very helpful and responsive, too.
Heaven, can't wait to go back. Lovely property.
Visited March 2017. Stayed in 3 bedroom lower level apartment. Property exterior is breathtaking. Location was very convenient to the plaza and small stores as well as the ferry. Pool was clean, water temperature was comfortable. Property inside, very comfortable, not quite luxurious but definitely nice. A/C's all worked, fully stocked kitchen, Wifi, very clean, towels provided. Owner very responsive, property manager, Isabel was amazing, helpful and such a beautiful person.
Plan to travel back to the island before your departure date. I left my ferry ride for the morning of my flight. Bad idea. There was a storm and power outage, there were no ferries that day. I missed my flight. Stressful BUT I must say the generosity of the property owner surpassed my expectations. He did not charge us the additional night for the stay.
Buy your ferry tickets in advance - that situation is hectic. The sales window is only open when the ferry is arriving/departing. Locals get priority. Not a very organized system. Allow extra time for travel.
Bring an iron, it's the only thing that house didn't have.
I definitely recommend this property. Vieques is beautiful and very safe.
