Situé dans les contreforts des Pyrénées et au coeur du pays cathare , le charmant village ' Bastide ' de Chalabre a conservé ses origines médiévales , et se trouve à 12 min de marche à pied du Bourdil avec poste, magazins, médecins... Lac de Montbel à 2 km à travers la forêt.

Les deux appartements (Aragou 100 m2 et Tivoli 40 m2) de vacances spacieux et confortables avec une cuisine moderne et salles d'eau sont situées au premier étage avec une entrée indépendante. La vue y est dégagée, donnant sur la campagne environnante. Aragou offre de spacieux volumes et vue.

La piscine (11 x 5m) chauffée, chaises longues, parasols, barbecue et terrasse ombragée sont à votre disposition ainsi que des boules de petanque, deux tables de ping-pong, des vélos (VTT) et kayak pour le lac de Montbel.
Le lac de Montbel est à 4 km et est facile d'accès en voiture (à pieds 2 km). Le site exceptionnel du Lac de Montbel et sa vaste superficie (570 hectares) sont des atouts pour la détente aquatique, le nautisme (kayak, pédalos), la randonnée familiale ou sportive, la pêche, l'ornithologie ou VTT autour du lac, resto, bar et jeux d'enfants.

La cité de Carcassonne est à 40 km (aéroport Sud France + Ryanair+ location voiture)

Two independent apartments, refurbished to a high standard, in a 16th century farmhouse with heated swimming pool. Set in 8 acres of rolling meadows on the edge of the medieval village of Chalabre in the heart of Cathar country. A countryside setting but within walking distance of a full range of village shops and restaurants.

Chalabre is in the Départment of Aude, in the Region of Languedoc Roussillon, in South Western France surrounded by Cathar castles and steeped in history. It is the capital of the Quercob, with the towns of Mirepoix and Limoux nearby

Situated in the foothills of the French Pyrénées, Bourdil is easily accessible via the excellent French autoroutes and airports at Toulouse, Carcassonne, Perpignan and Montpellier. There are numerous activities within a short distance

Cathar Castles :
This is Cathar country. For lovers of history and legend, there are many impressive Cathar fortresses nearby, including Puivert and Montsegur where in 1244, 225 martyrs chose to be burnt at the stake, rather than give up their faith.

APARTMENTS (Gites)
Bourdil offers two independent, spacious, high quality self catering apartments (Aragou 100 M2 + Tivoli 40 M2) with modern kitchens and shower rooms. Situated on the first floor with their own separate entrance and accessed by a short staircase, they may not suitable for young children or anyone with a physical disability. They can be rented separately or together for larger groups.

Bourdil is unusual, because it is in a beautiful countryside setting yet only 12 minutes walk to Chalabre with it's full range of shops. It's so much nicer to stroll down to the boulangerie in the mornings alongside the river, rather than having to drive for miles !

A Wi-Fi Broadband connection is available at le Bourdil to save you searching out an Internet cafe elsewhere, although a free connection is offered at the library. Bring your own laptop, PDA or blackberry to get on-line. A good mobile signal can generally be received at the house. Satellite TV is on hand too including UK free stations.

SKIING & SNOWBOARDING: Nearest resorts are:
• Mont d’Olmes, just 25 miles away
• Ax les Thermes, 36 miles away via Puivert.
The Med : The Languedoc-Roussillon coast has dozens of large sandy beaches, from Narbonne-Plage in the north to Canet-Plage and Argelès-Plage in the south, near Perpignan. Collioure is a pretty harbourside village.
Walking & Cycling :
This is an area with fine views and walks - the track which passes Bourdil goes in one direction towards Lac de Montbel through the woods (see picture), or in the other direction towards the village to connect with a variety of routes randonnées and VTT trails (walking and cycling circuits). There are fantastic views from a number of walks in the immediate area.

Lac de Montbel : The 540 hectare Lac de Montbel, with its sailing and boating facilities, is about 3 miles by road - or less via the wooded path from Le Bourdil.

Carcassonne : Within easy reach by car (45 minutes), is the spectacular Cité de Carcassonne - originally built in the middle ages.

Mirepoix & Limoux : Also nearby is the fascinating medieval town of Mirepoix, with its unique 13th century 'couverts' or arcades around the main square, and Limoux, the centre for the sparkling white wine, Blanquette de Limoux.
