Perfect for a shore getaway weekend.

For when you want to go down the shore but don't want to deal with the insane prices you can get on rentals, this is a perfect, quaint location a short walk from the beach. Can't recommend it enough.

Birthday weekend

Was a great little spot. My partner and I love old homes so it suited us. It’s railroad style and you walk through the bedroom to get to the kitchen and bath, which would be awkward if you were to bring family or friends. The porch was our favorite place to sit and soak it all in. Check in/out was easy and our host communicated well. It’s walking distance to everything. Overall a sweet place. Bring all toiletries including soap…but there is a little market for whatever you need a few blocks away.

Charming apartment by the shore.

We had a wonderful time staying here. The beach is only a short walk away, as is Asbury park with dozens of restaurants. The neighborhood is quiet and very clean. The apartment was stocked with the necessities and paper goods. I would definitely stay here again.

Properly was as advertised. Good value. Was there for business and beach time when i could. Was a good alternative to expensive hotel rates. Would consider staying there again.

Amazing location!

Spent a lovely weekend there with husband and two kids- perfect for 2 people and totally doable for 4. (We had originally planned for just the two of us). Fast communication with owners. Would stay there again!

Girls Weekend

We were in town for a concert at the Stone Pony. Everything in town (and across the bridge) is very walkable. The beach is gorgeous. The house has plenty of beach chairs. There are many very old structures in town. This is a house that was built many years ago and things are a little small/tight. But it was perfect for our weekend get away.

Disappointing

Good location for beach and Asbury Park restaurants. Great bath and beach towels and new beach chairs. Spent a lot of time on porch. But the condition of the property was disappointing. Also, basics such as bath soap, garbage bags and condiments were missing.

Relax at the Grove

The property was adequately set up as to basic needs for a 2 week stay. It wasn't luxurious but we were satisfied. The manager Mark was a doll and the property owners were sweet and attentive. Anything we were missing was provided ... We sat on the porch nightly talking of life and experiences. I felt the experience reflected Ocean Grove. I would come back again.

Much needed vacation

I had no idea that even the smallest of places could bring me soo much peace and relaxation. I enjoyed the wrap around porch every day I was there. My father passed away 4 months ago, my boyfriend broke up with me at my father's viewing, and then my mother decided that she wanted to move back home, so I took her in. All this in 4 months. I needed a beach that was not crowded, and a place to call "home." This was the place. The owner was very generous and understanding, and her manager was right there if I had an issue or concern. I would like to see someone who has had enough and need a getaway, to try this place. You will not be sorry.

A Little Disappointed

With a little more effort, this property could have lived up to the expectations created by the posting. What was good: Bed was comfortable, plenty of beach towels, newer coffee maker and blender, pretty clean, decent kitchen and table, nice porch, close to Asbury Park, and reasonable rent. What was disappointing: No bath towels, wash clothes, or hand towels, etc. Half a roll of TP - no extra, no room in the one old dresser for any clothes (full of blankets, etc.), and no place to put suitcase since we had to live out of it, extremely limited TV options, mishmosh of dishes, cups, etc in no particular order in the cabinets and on shelves, very cluttered, looked like it might have been recently painted and things hadn't all been put back - pictures on the floor behind furniture, etc. What was unfortunate: Outside entry doorknob did not work the first night that we came home after dark. After struggling in the dark, we finally went to the side door and got in. Fortunately, we hadn't put the chain on it. The coffee maker had old moldy grounds in it and old moldy coffee in it. Yech! Silverfish in the bathroom. Yikes! Overall, if you have very limited standards, this was fine. However, it could be so much nicer with a weekend of two of organizing, culling, and basic handyman stuff.

Not what was expected

The owner was very responsive. This property is very old and badly in need of updates including to be painted. The locks and the lock box were very challenging to use even though the owner brought a new key. The doors just don't close properly. The apartment is dark and cramped even for two people. The windows don't all have screens and some are hard to open. There were no hand towels, and the bathroom is very old so the water pressure isn't great and the water doesn't get very hot. There is really no place to put your toiletries. There is one old dresser for clothes but it had the owner's stuff in it. Furniture could use to be replaced including the bed and living room couch which were not very comfortable. The kitchen had almost no utensils. Although the apartment seemed clean it is just so old that it doesn't feel clean including the tile floor. It would have been fine if it was advertised correctly and we knew what to expect or if the fee was lower.

Not accurately described

All reviews we read regarding this place were extremely positive but not exactly accurate. We arrived at the rental and found the keys easily. We entered the rental to find that the place was clean and tidy but extremely dated. The windows need replacing desperately and it would have been nice if the owners would have left a check in/out sheet of paper with all the details on it. Instead we needed to hunt for everything. Also, we arrived back from our first night out and we could not open the front access door with the key. The owner was contacted and she had her longtime renter open the door for us...mind you it was midnight. the lock needs to be replaced. We never again trusted the front door and accessed this apartment from the kitchen. In most VRBO's I have stayed at there were some coffees and tea bags as a nice amenity. Not here. All in all, we were disappointed in the place for the money they charged.

Cute little Getaway!

Apartment was small, but clean, comfortable and had everything needed for a long weekend. Just blocks from Main street with shopping , dining spots and Day's ice cream !!! The homes in Ocean Grove are unique and the properties are well taken care of. Melissa was a great host and I look forward to returning next year !

Wonderful time!

We enjoyed our stay at Mt. Tabor cottage! This is a great option if you're looking for an affordable, no-frills stay for a small group. It was a great size for myself and my 2 daughters. We especially loved that everything was within walking distance (beach, Day's ice cream shop, several dining options). We look forward to returning sometime! The host was very quick about answering questions.
