Sparrow's Rest is a charming updated 3 bedroom cottage in Duck, North Carolina. The interior space is tastefully decorated and offers a light, bright and spacious layout.

Located in Sanderling, a bird sanctuary, Sparrow's Rest provides a perfect Oceanside spot for viewing wildlife. While sitting out on the deck, you may be lucky enough to see herons, osprey, deer etc. The home has wonderful, easily accessed walkways, as well as a paved bike path that leads straight to the heart of Duck Village. Sparrow's Rest is within walking distance of the sound and local businesses that provide bike, kayak and SUP rentals.

The cottage is close to the Sanderling Community Health and Racquet Club, where guests can enjoy, free of charge, use of the beautiful sound front pool, lounge chairs and kiddie pool. Also available, for a fee, is use of the Sanderling Community tennis courts. A private Sanderling soundside dock access is located immediately across the Duck Road from the house, tucked away behind the Sanderling neighborhood sign. Perfect spot for launching kayaks or paddle boards with steps leading down to the water. 200 yards. Access to Sanderling Nature Trails.

Ocean access from Sparrow's Rest is a short walk of 350 yards. Guests are provided beach chairs, a beach cart and an outside shower. The numerous decks provide outdoor living in the natural beauty of the Sanderling community. Surrounded by live oak trees that bathe the house in dappled shade Sparrow's Rest is equipped for relaxation, comfort and fun!

Our comfortable stay with 4 to 6 adults

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay at Sparrow's Rest. For our stay, we were just two adult couples for most of the time with 3 couples for just one overnight--with 2 couples sharing the 2nd fl bathroom. We only had two problems. We were missing two sets of towels for the master bedroom when we arrived but after reporting that via text, the missing towels were delivered and left on the bench in the "garage" area. We also were very frustrated by the lack of instructions on how to get anything on the TV. We were unable to figure out which combination of the multiple remotes would allow to access the Spectrum TV cable service. We had to wait until the next day for one of the customer service reps from Beach Realty to come help. And it took him 10-15 minutes to figure it out as well.On the positive side, we appreciated the gas grill, the 2 zone air conditioning, and the beach chairs and the cart to help take stuff on the trek to the beach.We found everything we needed in the kitchen but one suggestion would be to get some wine glasses that can fit in the dishwasher, maybe stemlesss.

Wonderful Cottage / Wonderful Location

I am beyond pleased that we chose Sparrows Rest. We were very close to the beach and the community pool was beautiful. The cottage was lovely and perfect for our family of 4. The house was clean, well appointed and convenient to everything we needed. Thank you.

Family Summer Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great stay at Sparrows Rest. Loved the neighborhood. Very quaint, peaceful setting. The layout of the house worked well for our family of four. One thing I would note is the house has 2.5 baths, not 3. We did see a few small spiders, tiny black ants, and killed one large roach. I do think if the property was sprayed it would resolve the issue. I do think the outside of the property couid use some TLC, pressure washing, cleaning the spider webs on the stairs, etc. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would consider staying at the property again.

Great location, home needs updates, AC broke never fixed.

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home is located in the Sanderling community which is in Duck, NC. You get access to the community pool which is a 2 minute drive up the road. Beach is only a short walk. Included beach amenities such as chairs and umbrellas were in poor condition. House was not very clean and we routinely saw 1-2 cockroaches on the living room walls and ceiling each night. The biggest disappointment was when the AC broke on the second to last day of our stay. We reported the AC being broken at 9am then left to spend the day exploring. We returned to the house at 5pm with the AC still broken and no updates. Called the emergency maintenance line and was told they left a voicemail for the HVAC tech but never heard back. Was then told that they would most likely not be fixing it that day. Keep in mind it was 87 degrees in the rental home at this point and we had a 5 month old baby with us. The outside ambient temperature was 86 that night so opening the windows offered zero relief from the heat. It was never offered to drop off any fans or any other accomodations were offered. To this day the rental office or manager has not reached out to discuss the issue which is extremely disappointing. Would not recommend this rental home due to cleanliness and lack of response for emergency maintenance issue. I would recommend the Sanderling/Duck area as the community was overall nice. We'll be finding a different rental agency and home to book with next year however.

It is a beautiful and updated home just a short walk to the beach, which was less populated than other areas outside of Sanderling. I love the aesthetic of the home's interior decorations, and the multiple decks to enjoy.

Not what the pictures show! Trees VERY over grown 20 +yrs old!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It is a cute house but no-one took the REAL time to clean. We had to have the cleaning people come back twice. The ceiling fans were filthy, cobwebs everywhere, sky lights, in corners, the rafters where full of dust. At night we had palmetto bugs (roaches)clawing on the walls in the living room. It was not a pleasant feeling. The trees outside DO NOT look like the one you have shown in this picture. They are so over grown you could not sit outside due to all the spiders and cobwebs, no wine time on any decks! We sprayed everything inside and out just to get into the house. I think who owns this house should take new pictures, its very deceiving! BECAUSE it does NOT look like this on the outside. My sister and I were very disappointed, she came from IL and I live in VA, we get together every other year and we both were very disappointed. Like said is a cute house but new pictures need to shown for the outside, and be taken more often, I'm sure those trees are over 25 years old, live oak trees are planted where it shows none!

Inside is great, Outside is awful

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The interior is very nice and clean. Easily fit our family of 6, and everything was nice and clean with a great beach house feel. The couch is comfortable, the AC worked well, and the kitchen was well supplied. However, the exterior and the beach equipment and bikes was completely unusable and was a real disappointment. The bikes are in disrepair, rusted and completely with large spiders. All of the beach chairs were in disrepair and unusable. I had to buy née beach chairs and I left them so they are there now and are brand new. The deck and table were not cleaned or kept up, completely covered with large spiders. We arrived right after the house was cleaned so it was clear that there was no effort made to clean the deck. The grill and the cornhole game which I had been excited to use was not cleaned and covered with spiders. I understand that throughout a stay the spiders can be an issue, but dewebbing the deck, table and grill should be part of the cleaning process that is paid for by renters. Additionally there absolutely must be an interior storage for the bikes and beach chairs otherwise do not list them in the description of the house as they are totally unusable. This was a big disappointment as I was very excited that the house had these amenities. So overall, interior was very nice, exterior was awful. Despite the very clean interior I definitely would not recommend.

Well appointed kitchen!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Kitchen had nice extras (like many plates, bowls, glasses, coffee cups and pans) extra no Keurig and no seafood “tools” except one mallet. Home is nicely shaded but that comes with lots of spiders/spiderwebs on decks and yard and parked cars. Kitchen level was warmer than upstairs. Home features “velvet” clothes hangers (no need to bring metal cleaners hangers). Master bath shower liner needs replacement. Corn hole taken to beach was fun and nice extra. Plenty of towels provided. While clean sheets were supplied the blankets were not washed between renters. Red living room chair cover needs cleaning. We enjoyed Sanderling pool availability when biting beach flies arrived one day.

Conveniently ti beach

None of the lights worked in the storage areas underneath the home. Short walk to beach. Clubhouse only allowed our family to stay at pool 2 hours, then had to leave despite pool not being full. Beach was clean and uncrowded. Labelling the multiple light switches at the entry would be helpful.

Excellent House- Loved it!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our experience at Sparrow's Rest was awesome. This was the first time we rented a NON Oceanfront property. I was originally concerned that the walk to the beach would discourage us from going out as much but that was not the case. It was NOT a long walk and in fact the walk was something we looked forward to. The shade was awesome and the neighborhood was incredible for walking and riding our bikes. There was also PLENTY of sun at the property even though there are trees to shade the outside area. The deck was great and it was honestly the first time we were actually able to enjoy a deck at the beach, because OceanFront is so HOT that you have to go in sooner due to overheating! This was perfect. I would say that the futon area should not be considered a separate sleeping area, as there is NO divider between that area and the master bedroom. It is just like a sitting area part of the MBR. But, we brought a room divider with us and it worked great. The bikes available worked, but they were quite rusty and one chain broke while we rode. There are SO many chairs and boogie boards that come with this house, you really would not have to bring any of your own. SO CLEAN and basically no bugs or spiders (which is always a problem for me). Overall, our stay was one of the BEST we have ever had in Duck. Thank you so much for a great house!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A few notes to help you prepare. The distance to beach is "as the crow flies" so we drove our stuff everyday and then biked down. There are 2 adult bikes/1 kid bike that are ok to ride to beach but not much further. There are 8 beach chairs, umbrella & 2 boogie boards but no other toys, games, puzzles. Tons of kitchen amenities but no cleaning supplies. Beds very firm and master quite bright and noisy. Fantastic neighborhood, nice decks, good washer/dryer.
