Will not rent again
First check in was horrible. Owner did not inform me of the unit number. I called the listed number 15 times but got no answer. When the lady at the front desk called the owner answered on the first ring. The unit was a nice size and located right in the heart of downtown. The price was nice too. The furniture was torn and had holes. There is no box spring on the bed just the mattress. There was a half drunk bottle of wine sitting in the counter. Some of the lights did not work. When I messaged the owner they assured me everything worked. It didn't. I will not be renting from this owner again.
Great location, needs some work.
For the price, it was "okay". (Though I did see that the price has increased, which I don't think is worth it compared to other apartments in this complex, our parents were in a different one which was beautiful, newly renovated, clean and perfect, at the same price.) The furniture was nice enough, the bedding was fresh and pretty. The furnishings, though some were worn, was clean and comfortable. The cable and wifi worked. The biggest plus was that it was only a 15 min walk from the downtown attractions. However, there were a number of things that should be fixed if this is going to be perfect. Check-in was easy and the concierge was fantastic. Definitely check out the aquarium if you are in Atlanta!
Now for the work. There were several things that made me feel like the apartment wasn't as clean as it should be, old shampoo bottles in the tub, a brown ring around the toilet, a dirty sponge left on the toothbrush holder, and the kitchen counter felt sticky. There were no dishcloths and tea towels for us to clean up after ourselves. The towels provided looked like a mashup of everything the owner didn't want to use anymore in their own home. There was supposed to be a hairdryer in the apartment, but it was missing, which meant I had to buy a hairdryer to use while we were there, which I didn't need. When I finally got a hairdryer there were no plugs near any of the mirrors. This would be an easy thing to relocate so it was easy for guests to get ready. I tried to text about this, but got no response. The blinds didn't work properly and there were plugs falling off the wall and a cord in the bedroom curled up in the corner. I feel like most of these are small fixes, but they all added up.
Close to attractions but you get what you pay for
We asked for an early check in but the owners couldn't confirm because they didn't know if they had someone there the day we were checking in. The owners also didn't tell concierge that we were coming. We had to call them directly. It was resolved quickly though. Same thing happened for another guy who later walked in on us because he was given the wrong room key, by the same people. How do you not tell your concierge that you have people renting your own properties? And how could the concierge give keys to the same apt within 2hrs without asking if he was with the people that already checked in? The apt smelled weird the whole time, I can't place it. Not quite musty but old and bad. The counter was sticky despite being cleaned. There were also 2 small roaches, about an inch and a half or so, under the bed and another squished in the bed slats. We noticed them when we changed the sheets. We got there before the cleaner and wanted to take a nap. Luckily we didn't see any more until the last day when I saw a really small one on the wall in the bedroom. In the owners defense it could have just been a building issue. The blinds in the bedroom were kinda busted. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and sat so low in the frame that it pinched my legs when I sat on the edge. The wind blew so loudly through all of the windows that it woke me up. Sounded like a neighbor's vacuum. The good thing is that there was coffee and it was close to the main attractions.
