Great Location! Beautiful Place

Really Enjoyed our time at Decks on Avoca. The owner was very welcoming and showed us around the house before letting us enjoy our time. The location was great. 1 min walk to the beach and right in the middle of all the shops. In saying that though quiet enough to relax and enjoy. Thanks again to Derick for letting us stay in his beautiful place. I hope that we can come back sooner rather than later!

Spacious apartment and perfect location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Decks on Avoca. The owner Derek is very friendly and accommodating! The photos don't do the apartment justice. The apartment is beautiful and is very large and has a beautiful large bathroom. The balcony is also very large and great for entertaining with views of the ocean! The beach is only a 1 min walk away and stand up paddle boarding and kayaking is just around the corner! The cafes are right on your doorstep and they are beautiful! Perfect place for a relaxing holiday away with everything in walking distance. Would definately stay here again!

From the booking, through to check out our stay at Decks at Avoca was a pleasure. The owner Derek is a true gent, who was very accommodating. We found the flat to be excellent, it is huge with ample room to entertain and being right on the main street was a bonus. I expected noise, however Avoca was a quiet and peaceful location for us and as I remember it. The beach is right next door, with a great view of the ocean and 'shark tower' from the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge. I can't wait to head back to sample the massive back deck in summer! The local cafe's and eateries, so close by are also first rate. I highly recommend 'Decks at Avoca' to anyone, particularly families with a few kids. (The lorikeets on the back veranda kept my kids giggling with their antics.)

A large comfortable unit in central Avoca Beach

We considered the Decks a reasonable priced, well located unit in the center of Avoca Beach. The unit is particularly big and well suited for a large or extended family.

There is a great cafe out front and several other cafes and restuarants a short walk away, as is the beach.

Derek the proprietor was friendly and helpful.

We found the unit clean and tidy, well appointed for a pleasant stay.

Although Derek offered the wifi key to the modem in the office the signal was poor upstairs and I would suggest that could be upgraded.

Lovely Spacious Apartment

This apartment was enormous, clean, well thought out and well appointment. Every thing we needed was there and it was all clean ready to go. The owner was kind enough to stay back and wait for us when we had a traffic jam up from Sydney. We will be back.

Not luxurious at all as described in advert !

Very disappointed with the apartment, the description is misleading, this is not a "luxurious" apartment, it is a standard, tired looking apartment that sleeps 10 people in a great location. The apartment was dirty upon arrival, the linen supplied smelt damp and unwashed and hasn't been replaced for years, there were dirty stains on the carpets throughout the apartment, the sofas and the cushions had stains on them and were old. The fridge leaked all throughout the stay and my baby slipped on the puddle of water a few times, when reported to the owner he knew the seal was broken and tried to fix it but couldn't so he gave us a towel to use to soak up the water ! Plates were dirty, pots and pans were old and stained, when complained he replaced the pots. The BBQ was really dirty, again when I told the owner he advised that you clean it when you fire up the BBQ !!!! yes at home we do this but when I am staying in a "luxurious" apartment I don't expect to have to clean the previous tenants food, grease and dirt off the BBQ. The owner took the drip tray away and cleaned it after we showed him, which was full with a thick layer of old dirt and grease, he couldn't understand the issue with it. The toilet door had stains up it like someone had either thrown a drink up the door or vomited and left it there, there were cigarette butts on the balcony floor, clearly not cleaned very well from the other tenants. The owner did advise he had schoolies staying there before and his cleaner was away so I believe there was a very poor standard of cleaning before we went in.. If i had known there were schoolies staying the in the apartment I definitely would have not booked here.

There is no under cover parking with this apartment you have to park down the side of the shops private driveway and get blocked in by several cars. As I mentioned the only upside is the location which was great but unfortunately this was overshadowed by the tiredness and dirtiness of the apartment. We did try to move but due to time of year we couldn't find alternative accommodation. We gave all of the above feedback to the owner along with showing him physically and photos taken but his only response was that he has been doing this for 14 years !! yes and it looks like the place hasn't been cleaned or refurbished for 14 years. So sad as it could be a great place with a bit of love and care. Good luck staying here

Réponse du propriétaire: Thanks Maxine from the northern Beaches for your critique on my unit , Over the 14 years I have been accommodating people at Avoca I have only had wonderful reviews. Any complaints have been only over the view. I agree the unit needs a tidy up and paint which will be done this year and I,m sorry the unit was not up to your English standard of clean. But I just don't have people complain about the cleanliness as any one can see by the accompanying reviews. The carpets were due for a clean but because of lack of time I did not get them done This was my fault and I'm glad you brought it to my notice. I rang two fridge repair company's and they did not return my call as they were obviously very busy . I discovered that a previous tenant had left the door open an allowed it to frost up also as you stated the seal was dislodged which I reattached but it did not stop the build up of water in the fridge. I have learnt since that by pouring hot water into the back of the freezer compartment I can clear the blocked drain. I'm sorry you did not agree with my use of a towel to dry up the water and I apologise for the inconvenience. As you stated I replaced the burnt pot immediately as with the dirty plates when you brought it to my notice I inspected the other plates in the rack and found they were clean with your bad luck you picked up the two that were dirty . I will make sure the situation is rectify in the future, as well as the Bar-be-cue . As per the back of the toilet door if you had brought it to my notice I would of called the cleaner back to clean it . I don't understand your comments about not staying at accommodation that had schoolies . I allow young adults to stay in the unit because I trust them.With the rules stated to them I don't have any trouble except a stain on a toilet door The parents of the schoolies are very thankful their sons and daughters can find a safe place to stay away from drugs etc. You must of not understood were to park your large jeep as there is undercover parking under the balcony . I admit it is tight parking but all my previous tenants understand. I do not think good luck is a requirement for staying in my apartment just consideration and understanding as per my previous tenants over the last fourteen years. Regards Derek Walter
