Fabulous, Gite and Apartment with everything you need for a great holiday in a stunning locationt
Stayed here twice once in the Gite and once in the apartment both are furnished very well with lovely comfy beds and fluffy towels ( Sorry a must for me) and they have included everything you need for a fabulous holiday. The hosts Steve and Shona are great and make you feel very welcome. Loved the hamper on arrival to get us started being on a late flight and supermarkets not open on a Sunday. The Gites are situated in the most beautiful gardens with fabulous views from the pool over the valley. Great location for exploring the Castles and Chateau's of the Dordogne and all within a few minutes drive. Try a hot air balloon for that special occasion its amazing...
Thank you Pamela for your fabulous review of your second holiday here with us! It was great to see you again and glad you had a really good holiday. Look forward to seeing you both very soon!
Beautiful property in an idyllic setting
We booked the apartment for a week and had a wonderful stay with perfect weather. La Petite Baronnie is in a truly beautiful location with stunning views over the Dordogne valley. The apartment is delightful and very well equipped (including great WIFI connections). The gorgeous, immaculately kept pool was perfect for sunbathing and swimming. Shona and Steve are lovely hosts, so hospitable and very helpful when asked for advice on where to go/ what to see. This is a perfect location from which to explore the Périgord Noir and I will definitely be recommending it to family and friends. Many thanks Shona and Steve!
Thank you Judith for your comprehensive and glowing review! It was a real pleasure to have your company last week and we enjoyed helping you to get the most out of your holiday. Thank you for recommending us to your family and friends and we hope to see you and them at La Baronnie Gites in the not too distant future!
Lovely stone buildings and gardens
Even prettier than pictured, this lovely stone home surrounded by gardens and a pool was cozy and comfortable for our stay in the Dordogne. Upon our arrival, Shona and Steve warmly welcomed us. The pool was very inviting but the weather was cold and rainy during our stay so we weren't able to enjoy it. Shona made sure we were warm and had everything we needed. The apartment is very comfortable, quiet and well equipped. We loved the little patio and the little ball lights at night. We heartily recommend this apartment to our fellow travelers to this area.
Thank you Dennis for your lovely review. It was such a shame that you had some cold and wet days, but glad that you were warm and cosy in the apartment. Maybe next time the weather will be better!
We loved our stay at petite Baronnie, we had beautiful views of the Dordogne, & in the early mornings before the mist lifted it was lovely to sit outside with an early morning coffee and have our breakfast. It was perfectly placed for our cycling trips which we did most days & then in the late afternoon we retired to have some relaxation & a swim in the very welcoming & well kept pool. Our hosts were very kind and attended to our every need from welcome drinks upon arrival to ensuring we were comfortable & had enough towels etc. There are no negative words to say only positive & we would have no problem recommending to friends & family. Lovely Lovely place.
Thanks Nikki for your wonderful review of your holiday with us! We really enjoyed having you here. So glad that the weather was kind too and that you loved the pool as much. Our location is ideal for exploring the area by car or by bike as you did. We hope to see you both again another time.
Beautiful location & welcoming hosts
We arrived to essential provisions & welcome drinks provided by the owners. Shona & Steve were very friendly & offered lots of advice about the local area. The apartment was well equipped, clean & tidy. It is in a perfect location to explore the local area from. The pool was great with lovely views. The week exceeded our expectations on all counts!
Thanks Emma for your review. We loved having you and your family staying with us and are so glad that the week exceeded all your expectations!
Charming 2 bed apartment in heart of the Dordogne.
The apartment was well furnished, clean tidy and we felt at home straight away. When we arrived it was lovely to see a few basics milk, eggs, butter and bread provided by the owners.
The apartment looked lovely in the photos still far succeeded our expectations - in terms of setting and charm. Beautiful well stocked gardens and delightful walled garden with shrubs in balcony style pool area.
Steve and Shona were welcoming and we were invited to meet other guests from the Gite during the first evening and they recommended things to see and do during our stay.
The apartment is well situated an hour and a bit from Bergerac and 10 minutes drive from St Cyprien small market town with evening Gourmet market and weekend markets. To the East is medieval town of Beynac with absolutely stunning views of the Dordogne river meandering its way through the valley is 10 minutes away and 20 minutes further is bustling medieval town of Sarlat.
The kids loved the pool and we were able to relax in the sun loungers on the pool terrace. We went out nearly every day as there are so many medieval towns and attractions nearby. We particularly enjoyed the Gourmet market at Sarlat, canoeing in the Dordogne river which was a gently meandering river but fairly shallow in parts so one felt safe with the children, the views from Beynac medieval castle and our favourite was the nearby chateau at Milandes which was owned by Josephine Baker black American dancer in the 1920s Jazz age, activist and French resistance fighter who made her home there in the 1920s. We had some delicious meals as the French cuisine is one of the best and the local wines are exceptionally good. It's got to be one of the best holidays we have had and I would definitely recommended it to family and friends.
Thanks Lisa for a very comprehensive and interesting review. You have summed up what is so magical about this area! The children were at a perfect age to enjoy the pool as well as the chateaux and canoeing. The gourmand marchés are wonderful in the summer. We like to try different ones as each town has a weekly evening. We hope that you will come back again and see us!
