Perfectly wonderful place to stay! So sweet and peaceful. Clean, well cared for and within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants on the waterfront. Brenda is a very lovely hostess. She communicates well and is very kind and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again!
Sonja has been a delight to have as a guest. We "clicked" immediately with so much in common it is uncanny -- including that she runs a B&B in Alaska! I'm delighted that sonjS has been able to take advantage of a well-earned vacation while visiting her daughter here in Beaufort.
This is perfectly located for easy access to dowtown events, short drive to the beach. The house is very clean, beautifully decorated and all the comforts of home there for your needs. I would highly recommend staying here. Everything was just perfect and Management is very accommodating and helpful.
It was delightful having the Engstroms stay with us at Magnolia Court while they waited to get into their new home in Beaufort. They really enjoyed sitting outside on their shaded deck and were conscientious guests in caring for their suite. We wish them the best in getting settled into their new home.
This is my first negative review in 14 years! I am very disappointed. I tried to respond to what was a very difficult situation as best I could.
Carol experienced several difficulties during her stay. Since her arrival was scheduled when I would be out of the country, I made certain to provide her with the contact name and phone # of my assistant in case she needed anything. Likewise, I provided my assistant with HER contact information.
I received a text shortly after Carol’s arrival, indicating that she was having difficulty using the lock box. Because guests may arrive in the middle of the night & not everyone is familiar with using a lockbox, we provide explicit written instructions on our Booking Information Sheet on how the keys are accessed. Often these instructions are left home. Nonetheless, I contacted my assistant and asked that she meet Carol and assist her. (BTW: We are in the process of installing the new keyless door locks on our properties.)
One week later, the hot water heater in the apartment above Carol’s flooded those two apartments. Since I was now back “in country,” I went to the property myself as soon as I found out about the problem. I quickly assessed the situation, turned off the main water line, called for help, and assisted both guests in moving their things out. The upstairs guests were departing that day anyway and were very gracious about the incident. I asked Carol if she had any problem with stairs; she indicated no, so I moved her into my one remaining apartment (LR & kitchen downstairs; BR & bath upstairs) for the last 3wks of her stay.
In all the times I was on site overseeing the repairs, Carol never mentioned being unhappy; only later did I hear that she didn’t like dealing with the stairs. Had I known, I could have offered to help her find other accommodations, but I operated on the knowlege that she liked our location because it was close to her family. I couldn’t offer her my adjacent cottage, because it was booked during the remainder of her stay.
Despite our best efforts (I limited the working hours to when Carol would be gone visiting with her family) and my efforts to corral the repair crew as best I could (they were, after all, an independent company and I was not on site all the time) – I am sure that the process was, nonetheless, disruptive.
I do my best to anticipate problems before they occur, to deal with them constructively when they do. I regret that my efforts failed here.
We enjoyed staying here. The place was clean and had everything we needed. The owner was helpful and kind. We loved being within walking distance to downtown and having the Hunting Island pass was awesome. We’d stay here again.
We were so glad to be able to provide your military family with a "Home Away from Home" while you prepared to move to your next duty station. I know the kids really enjoyed the outings to the beach and our close proximity to everything. Best wishes!
Clean, Comfortable, and Convenient
This property was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a 4 night stay in Beaufort. Brenda was very helpful and easy to work with. The main living area is small if you plan to spend a lot of time there but we spent most of our time out and about so it was not a concern. The 10 minute walk downtown won't be a problem for ably bodied people and it is even easier if you are riding a bike. All in all this was a convenient property to operate from.
We were delighted that we had availability for you to stay with us during your daughter's Spring Break! We are generally booked for the winter-springs months a year in advance, but happened to have a narrow opening to be able to host you. And you were delightful guests . . . just the kind we like to have. Eager to get out and explore the area and partake in the activities/special events going on that we share with our guests. Glad you enjoyed the First Friday Art Walk with its antique car show, musical entertainment, and wealth of local artistic talent. Trust that you also enjoyed the pass for access to the pristine beaches at Hunting Island State Park. It's rare to find such a public beach that is not commercialized. You were wonderful, thoughtful guests and we hope to have you return. (Note: the fall is also a wonderful time to come!)
Pleasant home away, well located and equipped
We stayed in the West Indies apartment for 5 nights May 2017. The unit has everything you need and then some. It is clean, beautifully decorated, well air conditioned, and in excellent shape. The kitchen is very well equipped and everything worked well. Brenda supplies a "beach unit" with a cooler, umbrella and chairs. There is a TV including access to Amazon that was easy to navigate. The bedroom and bathroom are on the second floor (15 stairs). Parking is easy out front. The area is safe and well located within walking distance of many things you may want to see. Easy living here.
So glad you had a great stay! We do try hard to equip each of our suites with everything you need and appreciate suggestions of things we may have missed. And we are estatic that the beaches at Hunting Island State Park will be open again in early June so our guests can put our beach gear to good use and enjoy their gorgeous pristine beaches (Hurricane Matthew did a bit of damage in October 2016, unforunately). We hope to see you return soon!
