Beautiful cottage. A 4 minute walk to village
This is a great place to stay.
Has everything except a pool but with the sea so close hardly an issue.
So central to the village, but the best views. We loved sitting on the large balcony 'people and boat watching'.
We liked the house for its traditional but comfortable feel. Cool in the heat with lovely outside spaces with stunning views. Everything you need is here in the village though hiring a boat is a must to explore further bays. We walked along the pretty coastal path too but early in the morning as here in August. Sam and Nicholoas welcomed us warmly and there was a wonderful selection of provisions in the kitchen. Could have stayed much longer.
Perched above the picturesque harbour of San Stefanos bay this traditional cottage has it all.
We loved the fact that the location meant we had gorgeous views and a just a five minute walk to the village bustle, the supermarket, cash point, gift shop, boat hire and half a dozen tavernas and bars without being bothered by early morning deliveries or late night revellers enjoying the water front cocktail bars. On hot days being higher up means a welcome breeze flutters through the the house which retains its original charm. There solid walls, wide door ways and a separate kitchen dining across the terrace from the days when open fires and sleeping quarters were kept separate. French windows from each bedroom lead onto a share balcony with sea views. Everything was freshly painted when we arrived and the owner's adorable mother, who lives quietly downstairs and spends her days running a supermarket and making honey says there are plans to update the house, especially the bathroom, further. Currently there's a bath with a hand held shower attachment; basic but functional. There are plentiful sun loungers, towels, a new washing machine (although the instructions were all Greek to me) and a lovely solid stone outdoor dining table which became the focus of life on the terrace which also has a brick oven and bbq. The maids come once a week to change the beds and refresh the towels and both bedrooms have air con units. There is also a small sitting room with a collection of 'airport novels' donated by previous guests. Aside from the view and the peace and quiet our favourite memories of the house were the warm welcome, the fridge stuffed with fresh food and wine, the responsiveness of the rental manager Sam, who was always on the end of the phone to sort things out and offer advise and Mrs T, the owner's mother who gave me a jar of her own honey on the last day. Things to note: there's a short but steep climb up steps or a path from to sea front, the beds are new, but jolly hard, the wi fi router is not in the accommodation and the signal would only work for us on the terrace, restaurant food is good but not cheap, as the harbour serves the yachting set. For the one vegan in our party we got the best options just down the road at the brilliant taverna on Kalami beach. Car and boat hire recommended to explore by land and sea, no bus service here. There's good, safe swimming off Kalami beach and great cliff top walks to Kouloura and beyond along the Corfu Way. Nearest sandy beaches are to the north. Corfu Town is wonderful, 70 mins drive away.
A lovely house in fantastic location with great views from the balcony. Price reasonable for what you got. The welcome groceries were much appreciated! Good communications from Sam. Highly recommended!
