Ideal Welsh Retreat
We wanted to find a property to accommodate a group of 17. Consisting of 13 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs.
Sarah Watkins was extremely helpful, answering all our concerns, queries and providing additional information to assist us with this.
We arrived at Bryn Adda on the Friday and we’re impressed by the sight of a substantial country house located in its own private grounds.
The weather on arrival was warm and sunny (not typical welsh weather) and we enjoyed a lovely BBQ eating al Fresco next to the lit fire pit.
Located a short drive from the village and shops, we found it a perfect location and retreat for our group.
We were approx 1 hour from the Snowden railway and walking routes. A little further than we initially wanted to be but the drive through the national park and villages was beautiful.
Bryn Adda is a beautiful house in a beautiful location and was perfect for our needs. We would all stay here again .
The only issues we had during our stay were the shorty bunks were too small for the 2 older children in our group and too high for the 2 younger ones in our group so we had to rethink our sleeping arrangements.
There is a bees nest in the roof which didn’t bother us as we noticed this and avoided the area outside. Bees are protected and cannot be removed but is a concern for anyone with allergies to them.
There are numerous bins in the kitchen which weren’t labelled clearly which made the recycling a little difficult and the outside bins were full so we couldn’t empty them.
Overall we all found Bryn Adda to be a perfect house in a perfect location and the staff were exceptional.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would look to book again.
An attractive farmhouse in Snowdonia
As a group of ten adults and four children, we greatly enjoyed staying in the Bryn Adda house. For my part, I thought that it was even better than expectations - it was a beautiful 16th Century farmhouse and the extension in the early 20th Century was built very sympathetically. I puzzled about why some doors were old and others weren’t and then it came to me that, of course, some went with the later extension.
The heating worked superbly, the floors were bizarrely uneven, the kitchen was well-equipped with an electric oven and an Aga, and the bathroom and sauna facilities were excellent. The bedrooms and sitting rooms were ample, not to mention the table tennis and playrooms. We thought the country was attractively unspoilt and made for good walks.
We all said that we should love to come again, so if this is feasible, we very much hope to - maybe even at another season so as to see what it looks like with the country in the spring or summer. I might add that we really liked the little town, Dolgellau, and Barmouth, the seaside resort a few miles away. Many thanks indeed for renting it out to us.
We (a group of 17) all had an awesome time at this house. So much space and much better than the pictures even show! A really nice location and a generally beautiful place. Really relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely stay again. Strongly recommend.
Great house and our early Christmas dinner
Lovely house that fitted us all in for a early Christmas dinner. The kitchen excellently stocked with everything to do this, and great table that fitted everyone around it. Great location for local beaches, mawddach trail and lovely walks. Time went so quickly while there!
Stunning location, high quality house
Party of 13 friends with two dogs - everyone loved the house. The kitchen had everything we needed plus a huge welcome cake. Everyone's bedrooms were well furnished and the beds described as very comfy. We spent a lot of our time outdoors, using the grounds with the fire pit and pizza oven, looking over fields where the farmer and his dog rounded up the sheep. The table tennis was a bonus!
We were all absolutely stunned with this property and grounds. There were 17 of us and we all like to get together before Xmas as we cant all be together on the day. We stayed in one last year and thought that was good but this one well it was amazing. Such a beautifull house every room was huge it went on for ever. We even had family visit from Barmouth for the day and the house was still big enough for us all. It was so well equipped and everything was well made and really thought out. Dining table was brilliant. The grounds (estate) were fantastic, loved the fire pit and BBq area. The kids spent time climbing trees, making dens and just loving the woodland walks (no roads nearby). It really was spectacular. Will definetly return. Cant stop telling people how amazing it was. Only 1 niggle was that we thought the ground floor bedroom was leval but you had to go up 5 stairs or go outside to get in. Its a seperate annex but not disabled friendly to get in or out. Big congratulations to the owners for making this a lovely home. We have all taken back some lovely memories. Thank you.
