Paradise for sure
This was our 2nd visit to this exact condo. We love it. So relaxing. I think I want to live forever on that 12th floor balcony. You can see the fish, turtles, and stingrays right from the balcony. Amazing. Food and staff in restaurant are incredibly good.
Awesome view- perfect for a couple
Great location- awesome view- all the comforts of home with a lot of nice little details
We have stayed at the Girasol Sur condos many times. This unit has the best view and is in good shape. Easy to work with.
The view of the Pacific Ocean from Polly's condo is wonderful. We saw a family of rays, kayakers, snorkelers, and some spearfishing off the rocks in front of Girasol Sur. We snorkeled right off the rocks to the left of the beach. Just to let you know the beach to the left of Girasol Sur is a private beach for the condos next door. We had some interesting challenges: The restaurant at Girasol Sur was under construction (Polly informed us of the closure as soon as she was informed,) as were the steps to the pool area and gym, and the winding steps on the M (pool & gym level) and 3rd (Lobby level.) There is a little convenience store located in the lobby area. The second challenge was the a/c did not blow cold air; however, as soon as Polly was aware of it, she spoke with Girasol Sur to fix the a/c and adjusted our account. Polly is genuine and wants her guests to enjoy their time in Puerto Vallarta. Muchas Gracias Polly!
Information: Taxi cabs (over the bridge walkway toward the big blue hotel) from the airport to Girasol Sur are about 300 pesos--airport taxis are about 415. Return trip with the white taxi was about the same, 285-300. The white taxi cabs that the hotels hail are more than the yellow city taxi cabs. Yellow taxi rides ranged from 110-140 GS to/from PV. The Mismaloya bus passes in front of the hotel about every 15 minutes. To go into town, cross the road and catch the bus for 8 pesos. All passengers get off/load at Constitution and Basilio Badillo where there is a OXXO (like a 7-11). West down Constitution and you run into the Malecon area. Buses run until about 10pm. We caught the bus down to Mismaloya. There is a really good restaurant on the beach, at the end of the road and to the left. It serves the best guacamole and chips I have tasted. Be aware that there are vendors non-stop on the main beaches in PV and Mismaloya. If you are not interested, you can say "No, gracias." Playa Gemelas, the beach that Girasol Sur has a gate to, despite being public, doesn't have aggressive vendors. Enjoy the people and the area.
The Palapas is very good food and on the beach (we were there during the sunset,) but expect the prices and portions to be that of an upscale restaurant. Tips (propina) at any restaurant are anywhere from 10-20% of the bill.
It is 25.50 pesos/ea (which is about $1.50) to enter Terminal Maritima. If you are going on any prepaid adventure, they will ask for tips. If you want pictures, it costs about $89 (USD)/basic
This was our first non all inclusive Mexico trip and it was the best! We enjoyed staying on the property - I mean those views! - but we really like exploring all PV has to offer. Go south and spend some time at the beach bars in Boca ($8 peso per person/trip) You can also take a water taxi to Los Animas (Yelpa is also popular, but the locals told us Los Animas was better). Many times we took the 15 min ride north to downtown. We felt very safe wondering around everywhere.
1) Bring Pesos! Very few places take cards and you lose lots when you pay in US dollars
2) Dont bother renting a car. The bus system is easy and the taxi ride from the airport is a fair price (around 420 pesos- $23usd to get to Girasol and 290 pesos - $16 for the return trip) We could have gotten a better deal going to Girasol but we would have had to find the pedestrian bridge and we didn't want to fool with it.
3) Tuesday nights there is an art walk where the fancy galleries stay open later (6-8pm) google it if that interests you
4) The mini market on site is good in a pinch, but if your hopping on the bus back find an OXXO for beers and water because its about 30% cheaper
*The on site restaurant was closed for our stay so we ventured out a lot* Our favorite meals were street tacos downtown and El Jacalito in Mismaloya. Get off the southbound bus at the Barcelio/zoo stop. Cross the bridge and its right there on the right. A huge platter of coconut shrimp was only $9.50 USD - AND this little place takes credit cards !
If the condo allowed dogs we would really consider buying a unit. GREAT location and employees!
Beautiful, comfortable, and well-equipped looking out at Paradise
Polly's condominium is really special. The complex is bright and colorful, with lovely gardens and flowers. The staff, from front desk, to poolside, to in the restaurant could not have been more helpful and friendly. The real prize is Polly's condo and its extraordinary balcony. I looked forward to waking up each morning so that I could take my cup of tea out onto the balcony and watch the sea come alive. We spent about two hours each morning on the balcony as the sun rose, watching the light hit the crystal clear water, the fishing boats troll back and forth, and the fish begin to move about in the sunlit water. We saw sea birds, fish, eels, dolphins, and most amazingly, Manta Rays with wingspans of 10 feet across. From our vantage point, we could see these majestic beasts glide along the surface gracefully. At night, our ritual was the same--to sit with dinner or a drink and watch the sun set over Los Arcos, while the stars emerged over the sea. It was very special.
The pool is peaceful, with incredible views of the sea. The beaches, one on each side, are clean and lovely. The water was warm, and clear, and the waves gentle. We used Polly's snorkle equipment to cruise around the rocks right out front looking at amazing and colorful sea life. We balanced cooking for ourselves in Polly's well-quipped kitchen with meals at the on site restaurant. The food was good and the waitstaff delightful.
We loved this part of Puerto Vallarta because it is quiet and away from the tourist areas. At least 50% of the visitors to the complex were Mexican, which we enjoyed. We adventured into town on the bus, and also to the small village of Mismaloya to explore. We loved that we saw more of Mexican life than the pristine streets of the resort area. It was a perfect location for us.
One of the highlights was seeing baby sea turtles released into the sea on two evenings, by the hotel next door. It was exciting and fun to be a part of.
I can't say enough about this wonderful spot. It's a truly special piece of paradise which I would recommend to anyone!
One tip is that the ATM which used to be at the nextdoor hotel, is no longer there. So, visitors should make sure to change their money before coming down to the condo. There is an onsite minimart that has lots of basics, but otherwise, this is a non-commercial area, with condos and hotels only. So, that requires a little planning around shopping or changing money.
We are so grateful to have had 5 days here!
Vous pouvez Zip Line à travers la forêt dense, faire une promenade à travers les jardins botaniques "nous recommandons fortement" ou visitez le zoo où vous pouvez nourrir les animaux.
