Thank you Sammy, we are pleased that the Loor U Inn was everything you were looking for and we look forward to hosting you and your group again some day.
We were a group of 8 that stayed at Loor U Inn and it was perfect! The cabin is beautiful, clean, spacious and has everything you need and more. Randy and Leah were quick to answer any questions we had and were very accomodating when our group size changed a bit. I would highly recommend staying here. We will be booking here again.
It is with great sadness that I am having to write such a poor review for this property.
The cabin itself was perfect for our yearly family ski vacation. We have traveled to Apex for over a decade and NEVER have had a problem such as this.
The house was loaded with everything we needed. Great secluded location but close to the ski hill. We traveled to the Loor Inn with our young children, our parents and another young family. Needless to say our goal of the trip was not to party and destroy someone else's property. Unfortunately, that is exactly what we have been accused of doing.
We left the cabin in EXCELLENT shape. During our stay, as any group of people would regularly do, we used the towels, linens, dishes, garbage cans etc... as provided by the home owner. Several days after returning home from our stay at the LOOR inn the home owner informed us that per the report via house cleaner we had basically destroyed their property. The home owner did not personally witness any of these things.
We were accused of using too many linens, leaving "stains" on the beds, breaking a locked closet door, breaking a duck, using and leaving a "filthy" BBQ (never even realized the house had a BBQ), not properly disposing of garbage (rental agreement and check out procedures in house do not coincide). The property owner informed us that it took the house cleaner an extra 5 hours to clean the house and when we looked at the house cleaner invoice it said 4. The location of the bed satins reported by the house cleaner did not match where the owner is accusing of them being. We used a provided box of tissue, apparently pulled a TP anchor out of place and left "dirt" (facewash) in the shower.
It is very obvious to us that we have been blamed by the house cleaner and owner (per cleaner report) for things that were not caught or properly cleaned during a pervious renters stay.
After trying to communicate our concern over being accused of things we definitely did not do the home owner replied that we would just have to "agree to disagree" and they would be keeping our security deposit.
This booking was a costly and upsetting experience for us as well and the first and only time we have needed to withhold the damage deposit. However now that the downstairs carpet has been replaced and necessary repairs completed, Loor U Inn looks better than ever! Apex is a lovely mountain and I hope in the future that you find an alternate accommodation more aligned with your and your group's value systems.
Cozy retreat - couple of safety issues
We had a great time at Loor-U-Inn. We were 9 adults plus two babies and there was lots of room for us, both in the living room and at the dining table. There was parking for 4 SUV’s, and could fit one more if you wanted to park tandem. The fire place burns very well, and there is lots of dry firewood on the covered deck. It does get a bit warm on the upper floor due to rising heat from the fire place. Keeping the bedroom doors closed helps. The log walls and artifacts are beautiful. The basement floor has 4 of the bedrooms and was warm and cozy. There are 3 seating areas: upper floor games room, main floor living room and basement den. The pool table isn't the best, but fun anyway. The hot tub is very privately located with a view of trees. You cannot see any of the other houses from the hot tub. Kids (and kids at heart) can crazy carpet right outside the door behind the lane. House was clean upon arrival. The owners were responsive to our inquiries both before and during our stay.
I wouldn’t recommend this place for babies, elderly folks or those with mobility issues though. There are outside stairs to climb down to access the house from the parking area, and the snow was packed and sloping downwards at the top area beyond the handrail, making it a bit dicey. It was not possible to shovel out this packed down area with the plastic snow scoops provided. If you bring a small metal shovel you could make this safer. Also, the plank flooring in the living area and kitchen, being real wood, is prone to splintering. One of us was hurt badly enough by the floor to have to go to hospital and sit out skiing. We turned him into a baby holder since he was in a chair with his foot elevated for the duration of our stay. If you bring slippers with good soles this won’t be an issue, but I’d think twice about bringing crawling babies or toddlers.
We would return here if we came back to Apex, when the babies are older and with our slippers.
fantastic cabin. great owners
Only improvement i'd make would be a pantry to put groceries. The cabin has everything you will need in a great location.
Thanks so much Brian. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed yourselves again this year!
Roomy, warm and inviting -- totally authentic log cabin
This cabin is roomy, warm and inviting -- space for everyone to enjoy together as a group, or to curl up & read a book for some alone time. The cabin in nicely supplied with basics, and the hosts were responsive and accommodating -- my experience communicating with them was 10 out of 10. Any questions we had were responded to quickly and clearly. There was kindling ready on our arrival, comforts like blankets and towels were easy to find, and cabin "closing-up" instructions straight forward. The location was private and quite -- we can't wait to stay there again!
Thanks Julia, We are so glad you and your group found our place so inviting. We are very happy that you enjoyed yourselves at our Apex getaway, we look forward to hosting you and your group again some day.
Regards, Leah and Randy
