Great Time Exploring the Lake
Came for a long weekend of fishing and paddling with a few friends. The houseboat very comfortably accommodates 3-4 people and we had a blast hanging out on the dock in front of the house, grilling out, and exploring Fontana. Would probably recommend bringing a motorized boat (which we did not) if you want to see more of the lake, as we couldn’t get too far by paddling. The houseboat has a nice grill, comfortable beds (two full-sized beds) and just the right amount of space to hang out for a few days. The stars at night were awesome. Using the nearby Oros landing we were able to quickly access our cars to drive when needed to go hiking, resupply, etc. We’re definitely hoping to return again for some time on the water. Thanks!
Fontana Lake Passion Boathouse
It was amazing. Had everything needed for a comfortable stay. waking up at sunrise the view was breathtaking. We also we greeted every morning and evening with 4-6 ducks, flying by, landing and taking off within about 30 ft of the boathouse. Plus we had a momma hen and her 5 ducklings as regular visitors also. We used Oros landing to put in. Very friendly. Only about 1.7 miles to the boathouse a beautiful ride in our canoe w/trolling motor. Will definitely be coming back.
Great peaceful and quiet getaway
We had a really great time staying at the house boat! It was the perfect place to rest and recharge and enjoy nature. It looks like they are in the midst of renovating - the photos aren’t exactly accurate, but the main features do remain the same. I think the listing could just use an update. We had a wonderful time, and hope to come back next year!
The remodel is complete and the photos now depict the current update. I am there frequently to improve the boathouse and it sometimes takes a little time to update the photos. The remodel opened up the main living/kitchen and bedroom area for more room, functionality, and storage.
Great secluded lake houseboat.
It is nice. I paid extra to use the closest public boat launch, (Fontana Marina boat launch, it cost $130 for a round trip but worth it). The houseboat is good for a single person or up to 2 couples, (it has a bunkbed). Clean, simple, and has a beautiful lake cove view. You see the Smokey Mountains and other houseboats, (about 10) but there was no one there when I was there, (Oct 28 and 29 Sunday and Monday). They provide 2 kayaks if you want to paddle in the cove and you can fish on the dock. I would recommend, and may use it again in my next Smokey Mountain vacation. Thanks Gaylene, (the owner).
So quaint and quiet with stunning views!
This is definitely a vacation for the more adventurous in life; however, it’s worth it in the end! The views were so spectacular of the smoky mountains... I got some of the best pictures i have ever taken, lol. And don’t think you can charge your phone there cause it will definitely take up your solar energy. I would recommend renting a canoe or something easier to get to the boat, but other than that, I hope to come back to Lake Fontana soon!
Thank you for your review. Charging a cell phone would be a minimal draw on the solar power so future guests do not need to worry about not being able to charge their cell phone(s) and staying connected. If guests are conservative of managing lights, fans, TV, ect, especially on cloudy days, there should be no issues with having power when you need it. I certainly will consider offering a canoe for next year instead of the double kayak for guests that do not have boats as I can understand there is more space on a canoe for transporting items.
