Perfect family base for the Cape.
6 of us stayed here for the last couple of weeks in August. Four adults, two children.
The property has two bedrooms (double, bunkbeds in one and three singles in the other) and two bathrooms upstairs, and then a lounge/diner, kitchen, bathroom and third double room downstairs. It is a short walk from the pool, perhaps 7 minutes or so, but then again I was doing this with a 3 year old... If you are looking at a map the exact location is here: 41.559364, -70.492952. There is a small outdoor area with seating and a grill, although we didn't use those. You can walk to the beach, and I did a 5k wander to the beach, along it and then back to the house via south cape beach, but otherwise you are driving 5 mins to south cape beach. There is a pass for the beach in the house.
It's in a rural area surrounded by other similar homes. Lots of scope to get lost on similar roads. We found a sat nav essential for the first couple of days.
The house itself was immaculate, all the facilities you could want, including a decent tv, kitchen stuff and wifi. There wasn't anything that we thought 'if only we had...'. Another reviewer posted about the lack of a tv upstairs but this wasn't a problem for us with the kids' obsession with iPads. The downstairs tv is fairly modern so will take usb drive if you've also got a drive loaded with your kids' favourite shows...
There is good air con downstairs, although it takes a little time to get upstairs. Turn on the hallway fan to better cool the upstairs. The weather while were were there was cracking, around top 20s/30oC. The pool was clean, rarely used by others and warm. The kids loved it. There was a pass to the local beach which we went to a couple of times, but we tended to tour. Craigsville beach was number two in my view to Old Silver which was magnificent. Certainly the softest sand we found.
Mashie commons is just up the road with a good selection of restaurants, shops and a cinema. We really rated the Oak and Ember. The cinema was ok, but I preferred the one a little further out (heritage theatres, sandwich) as there was a bit more leg room.
This is a good location for stuff, but note that this is the cape so the roads are right out of Supernatural and the speed limits are some sort of experiment in surreal randomness. It takes a while to get anywhere. Mashie commons is about 10 minutes out. Falmouth and Hyannis (where the bigger mall is) about 30 odd mins, depending on traffic.
to be cont....
Thanks for the great thoughts, Keith!
If you are planning to stay with us anytime in the summer of 2017, please be aware the pool will not be available and closed for renovations!
Was an Affordable Luxury
My family of four, my sister's family of three, and mom stayed at this location for our visit to the Cape. It was spacious, clean, and fully equipped with evyerything a family that large may need. We would highly recommend this property for families looking to visit Cape Cod. The only drawback was the lack of a TV on the second floor...especially with all of our kids.
Great vacation rental
We stayed here July 2016 and it was perfect for family of 6- parents, grandparents and kids.
Everything was provided- towels, games, etc. to make it a comfortable easy stay.
Pool was hardly used by anyone at all. Almost like having a private pool. Only disadvantage is it was not opened from 10-6.
Maxine was lovely to work with, answering any questions promptly.
Thanks for wonderful comments! For anyone planning a visit with us for the summer of 2017, please be aware the pool will not be available and closed for renovations!
