Hard to beat!
The property is wonderful. We were the first tenants of the season in early May. The pool was not open--and it would have been too cool to use it if it had been. The apartment was spotless. The beds were very comfortable. There is an amazing view to the next hillside from the covered veranda. We spent a good amount of time sitting there at the end of the day watching the sheep being herded to there next pasture.
Loro Piceno is a small town but had two small supermarkets that had everything we needed. There also is a fresh pasta shop where we got pasta for two nights evening dinner. It is a good spot to tour this area of Marche.
There is a loose leaf notebook that has photos of the restoration of the property. It basically was a complete tear-down of the original building along with a completely new landscape plan.
We have been renting apartments in Italy for close to 20 years. This is right up there with the best. In fact, it is the best one of those not in main towns/cities. We hope to go back again!
We are clearly very pleased to have received such a lovely review. We work hard to ensure that the presentation and facilities are what people would expect, and constantly seek to make improvements. Thank you, Diane!
Spectacular property and beautiful home
The view was breathtaking and the house absolutely beautiful, clean and it had everything we needed. I would strongly recommend this home to anyone who wishes to visit this spectacular yet remote part of Italy. You will need a car as it is a very long walk up a very steep hill to the village of Loro Piceno but you can get a car for a good price in Macerata. There are rows and rows of grape vines as well as prune and pear trees, we picked our fruit every morning for breakfast. We had a great time swimming in the pool and just relaxing and enjoying the view. The owner was very kind and always very responsive and helpful. Thank you Christopher and I certainly hope we have an opportunity to return one day.
We are, of course, delighted when our guests enjoy their stay at Casa Tranquilla. We strive to provide a good service at all times and constantly improve the facilities and equipment each year, based on what we would expect to find and our guests' recommendations. Thank you for your positive comments.
Great house, fantastic place!
Casa Tranquila is a wonderful house/apartment, beautifully situated in the hills of Le Marche, close to the little mediaeval hilltop town of Loro Piceno. We stayed at the Papavero apartment on the ground floor. We loved the terrace in front of the apartment, which provided excellent shade and allowing the stay and eat outside until late in the warm summer evenings. The apartment is very spacious and well equiped, and offers a real 'home away' feeling. The beds are excellent and there is plenty of space for your clothing and other things you bring along. There is a terraced garden with Mediterrean plants and herbs, where you can spot small (and very fast moving) lizards. Then there is a great pool, that we enjoyed very much during our 2 weeks warm summer stay, with plenty of sun loungers (to read a good book or have an afternoon nap). The area is beautiful and quiet. No overcrowded turisty places/locations. This is Italy pure, with lots to discover. We visited Ascoli Piceno, the Sibilli Mountains, drove the coast line up until Ancona, Macerata, San Ginesio (with great pizzeria on the towns central square). Overall, eating and drinking out is cheap and of good quality and taste. We had a wonderful holiday and would most certianly recommend Casa Tranquila as your place to stay for your holidays in Le Marche!
It is so gratifying to have such a lovely unsolicited review. We constantly seek to improve what we have on offer. Thank you for your kind comments.
Wonderful Rural Retreat
This villa is very private and has lovely views of the surrounding countryside.
We stayed in the upstairs appartment and had the pool entirely to ourselves as the downstairs was unoccupied. Both appartments look nice. Our balcony was private and ideal for evening drinks and meals.
The accomodation is very clean and comfortable - a perfect home from home. The beds are large and particularly comfortable.
The owners provided lots of helpful information about the local villages, shops, restaurants and attractions.
The nearby village has a good little supermarket and an adjacent fresh pasta shop. There are lots of restaurants in the surrounding villages.
We made a very pleasant trip to Frassati Caves which are stunning but be aware that it takes about 2 hrs to drive each way.
The hill down to the villa from the village is very steep and our small hire car could not manage to take 4 people and luggage back up the hill in one go when we left!
We will definitely return soon and see more of the surrounding national parks and villages.
Overall a very nice relaxing comfortable place to stay.
We are delighted to receive another positive response from our guests and will strive to maintain a very high standard in the future.
Apartment Pipistrello is an excellent base for trips to the Sibilinimountains and the places on the coast. Situated beautiful halfway the hills, well furnished and clean and with stunning views. Kitchen furnished with all comforts and convenient. Spacious bathroom, fine bedrooms and a very comfortable living room. The loggia is a perfect place for breakfast, dining, reading etc.. What we missed: some cushions in the plastic loungers by the pool, solid parasols and a sail on the pergola next to the house. (In 2007 we rented Papavero - also an excellent apartment - and spend many hours there).
We had three wonderful weeks in Pipistrello and would recommend this place to our friends.
Fam. Smorenburg Amstelveen, Holland
We are of course very pleased that our guests from Holland returned for another stay and that they had a good time, sufficient to be able to recommend Casa Tranquilla to their friends.
We are grateful for feedback from our guests and are constantly improving the facilities that are available through additions and upgrades. We undertake to do our very best to rectify any shortcomings that have been identified by our guests. Unfortunately we lost the canvas roof of the gazebo (pergola) when it was ripped off by a strong gust of wind that destroyed the roof structure, but despite our best efforts have not yet been able to source a suitable replacement. However, we expect to have something in place for next year.
In May 2012 we added a new patio, and will be letting a contract to have a solid, tiled roof erected over it before the beginning of the 2013 season. This is intended to provide a cool and sheltered loggia in addition to the gazebo, and will provide enough space so that it can be shared by both apartments if required.

Fabulous Accomodation and area
We had a truly wonderful holiday here, adults and children alike. The property was exactly as described and was 'home away from home', only with far better scenery and weather. All facilities within the cottage that you could require for your holiday were in immaculate condition.
We found 10 days to be just the right amount of time for spending by the pool and sightseeing. We visited Assisi which is steeped in history, the nearby mountains and lakes, Frasassi Caves and the beaches.
Would recommend to all, with or without children. One point to bear in min is you will need a car as this region is well known for its hills and mountains!
A security deposit of £150 is required with the final balance payment. This is refundable after the accommodation has been checked for damage or breakages. Special offers are available. Please consult the owners.
