If you want waterfront, look no further

We stayed here for 4 nights in April, 2018. The overall property is very well maintained and check-in was very simple. The building is right beside the main highway on Kauai so you will get some street noise however it was nothing major. The unit is right on top of the water. The bay you overlook as well as the beach are Wailua Beach Park. It is definitely not going to be one of the most beautiful beaches you will see on Kauai. The waves were big enough that swimming wasn't an option for us but this is not that uncommon on Kauai where many beaches are not safe for swimming most of the time. We happened to be here during the terrible flood and we literally watched full trees come down the Wailua River, which is at the far end of the beach, and then we watched the waves bring those full-sized trees back to the beach. The bedroom was a good size and the bed was comfortable. Tons of extra blankets and pillows which is always good. An iron and ironing board was available as well The bathroom is perfectly functional but isn't the most up-to-date one you will find. Everything worked well and the water was hot so at the end of the day we were content with it. The kitchen was very well stocked and everything you could possibly need is there. It is right across the street from a Shell gas station for quick access to fuel and food and there are plenty of restaurants in easy walking distance as well as a shopping area that is catered to tourists a few blocks away. TVs in bedroom and living room. Unit also came with beach chairs, boogie boards, umbrella, and snorkelling gear which was handy. The main issue with the unit is its location in terms of road access. The main highway that runs through this area gets really bottlenecked as you are between Lihu'e and the tourist zone of Wailua and Kapa'a. Really slow traffic seems to be the norm in the area, especially going north (through Kapa'a). It isn't big city-style traffic but still expect to sit in traffic for 20 - 60 minutes depending on time of day and day of the week. However, with that being said it is basically at the half-way point to either end of the highway if you want to tour the island. It would be about 45 minutes to get to Ha'ena State Park (Ke'e Beach and Kalalau Trail) and about an hour to Polihale State Park so it is a good central spot. It seems hard to really go wrong on Kauai so enjoy your time there and consider this unit if you waterfront.

You are correct that the central location is great for exploring tourist attractions to the North and South in about an hour to hour and half. Great view, nice place

We spent a wonderful 8 days here. The view is stupendous. We saw whales spouting, surfers surfing, and fisherman fishing from our lanai. We walked the beach down to the Wailua River most days. The place is walking distance to several restaurants and centrally located for most everything else. We'd stay here again! And you can't beat the value for the price.

A beautiful view

We had a wonderful five night stay,wish we could have stayed longer. The accommodations were quite comfortable with plenty of room for the two of us. The view from the lanai was wonderful ! We were on the second floor, no elevator but not a bad climb. Definitely made the view special.

The pool was fairly small but very well maintained,as were the grounds in general.

In summary, we will be happy to return to Wailua Bay View on our next visit to Kauai.

Loved the Island of Kauai and enjoyed the fantastic view from our lanai!

We have travelled to Ohahu, Maui and the Big Island and this was our first time on the Island of Kauai. We worried that it was a small island and there wouldn't be enough to do, but we were pleasantly surprised! When our GPS battery died, we didn't need to worry because it was easy to get around. The location of Wailua Bay was conveniently located to grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants and the fantastic bike/walking path that goes for miles along the ocean. Being on the east side of the island, it was not far to travel to the north side or the south side. Our view was fantastic from our lanai and we enjoyed having our breakfast out there every morning. There is a little road noise and we got used to the sound of the roosters crowing early in the morning!
