A lovely well-equipped house - beautiful setting!
We have enjoyed a perfect extended family holiday in this beautiful property, and are happy to recommend it warmly to future guests. Four generations, the eldest 82 years and the youngest 1 year old (10 persons in total) found ample space in this lovely, well equipped and very practical house.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are large and the beds very comfortable. The lay-out is perfect for large families with ample room for meals and hanging out, yet plenty of space to be alone when needed. The house is very well kept, all furniture and equipment (sun chairs and parasols included) are of high standard. The pool is large and perfectly situated in a large green garden. The outdoors dining table in the shade provides a perfect place for long breakfasts and evening meals.
All our questions during the stay were answered and sorted out immediately. Even a baby chair for the 1 year old and a high chair for the 4 year old were in place when we arrived. Everything was clean, working and in place. We could not have wanted a more perfect house and place for our large family holiday!
we are delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay at Le Gelibert and we very much appreciate your lovely review.
For our part, you have been perfect guests from start to finish, so we thank you!
Emma and Philip
Stunning home to relax in and sight-see from
I can't recommend Le Gelibert highly enough. Our family of four stayed with another family of four in July and we all had the most amazing, relaxed and idyllic holiday. It was perfect.
The photos don't quite do Le Gelibert justice. This is a beautiful and well-equipped home that has been done to the high standard as being home-from-home, rather than a holiday let. The house was immaculate and sparkling clean when we arrived. All the linen was fresh and clean. We even had a welcoming pack of food essentials.
The rooms are spacious and well-spaced, giving the option of keeping families apart or noisy children away from adults seeking sleep! With a dining table inside and out, a lounge area, a hammock and 8 loungers by the pool there's no end to the possibilities for seeking company or solace.
The kitchen is so well-equipped that catering was a pleasure, with adequate space in the fridge and cupboards. We often chose to cook out on the BBQ in the evening and sat out on the warm, balmy evenings.
The children needed no entertaining here. They lived in the pool and when they tired of that, there was the table football, play in the garden or the inevitable Minecraft (thank goodness for the wifi).
In terms of venturing out, the nearest supermarket (Leclerc, a 10 minute drive away in Riberac) was HUGE and sold everything (including lawn mowers). There was also a bakery in Riberac for the croissant run. The drive there and back was surrounded by the biggest fields of sunflowers we have ever seen. It was stunning.
For day trips, we ventured to Brantome, which was so very beautiful, complete with its own Abbey. It is a must to visit and I am so pleased we did. We kayaked down the river in pairs which was a huge amount of fun as a family. We had record low river levels due to the hot summer and got stuck on the weirs which was arguably more fun than rushing over them as we had to get out to push! We also visited Aubterre and the Friday market in Riberac, which was perfect for our holiday souvenirs. There were lots of other options but we were often reluctant to leave the farmhouse!
As for our hosts, Emma and Philip, I can not thank them enough. They were so kind and helpful with our request for local information, provided us with useful information on getting to Le Gelibert and ensuring that we were comfortable during our stay.
I can see why people keep coming back. It's a stunning place to holiday. We just won't come for a week next time. We'd come for two.
Once again perfect.
Our third time to Le Gelibert with different family combinations. Once again it ticked every box.
We love it here, relaxing, peaceful, perfect accommodation and fantastically helpful owners.
Location is brilliant, lovely walks or run in the morning, market in Riberac, ice cream in Allemans....bbq in the evening.
We will be back!
we're delighted that it works so well for you and thank you for returning to Le Gelibert - and for writing for such a lovely review!
Another perfect fortnight.
Our second time to Le Gelibert. Two beautiful weeks at this fantastic farmhouse. Perfect setting, in a stunning plot. The pool, gardens and outdoor area make for a perfect family holiday. Two families enjoyed relaxing, swimming, eating and walks in the area.
Shops and Riberac market only minutes away. Ice cream in Aubetttere.
Hopefully will be back.
thank you so much for your kind review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your time at Le Gelibert.
Wonderful and relaxing holiday home
After returning to for the 6th year running I think that expresses how my family feel about Le Gelibert! We love it here! It is set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings and is perfect for a relaxing and stress free holiday!
The house is well equipped and comfortable with 5 large bedrooms with 4 modern bathrooms. The kitchen has everything you need for every occasion although this year due to fantastic weather we spent most of the time on the shaded patio having barbecues! It is a lovely sized house and works well to accommodate a large family or two families or a smaller family like ours!
The outside area is wonderful with a very large garden to play sports when your children force you out of your sun lounger! The pool is a lovely size with Roman steps into a shallow end and a deep end to practise diving and just flopping in! Very relaxing!!
The house is in a beautiful part of France with many attractions near by. For the more energetic there is canoeing close by in Riberac and there are many lovely pretty French villages and towns to visit. There are many opportunities to eat out the closest been a two minute car journey away in Allemans. The local town is Riberac - only ten minutes by car-which has a very good supermarket (we seem to spend a lot of time there!) and has a big market on Fridays.
We absolutely love being at Le Gelibert and would highly recommend it as a holiday destination! It is beautiful!
Thank you for your lovely words about our house. We are delighted you and your family enjoy the Gelibert so much and it has been our great pleasure to welcome you back.
Superb holiday home!
We have visited on several occasions now and love it every time! The pool is always a draw for the whole family, from jumping in, playing water polo to floating quietly on a lilo. The garden is a fantastic size - big enough for all ball games and our boys have always loved bug hunting in the garden too, even at the age of 23! The house itself is incredibly well equipped - the best we have known - which makes self-catering so much easier. However, there are plenty of restaurants around if you don't fancy cooking! Allemans (the nearest village) has a bakery, bar/restaurant and a little artisan shop selling jam, chutney and fruit cordials etc, which make great presents to take home. Riberac, the nearest town is great for supermarkets and the Friday market - the best one in the area as far as we are concerned. It has something for everyone and plenty of places to sit for those who just like to watch the world go by. The Dordogne is a beautiful place to visit and this house will definitely add to your holiday experience, providing peace, tranquility and space for all ages.
The owners have thought hard about providing all that is needed in a holiday house, which is clean and finished to a high standard - a real home from home. The table football is also a fantastic feature, providing entertainment (or stress for some!!!!!) for all ages.
