Lovely historic cabin - real Lake Tahoe Experience!!
Wonderful cabin just a block off the lake! Cozy and well-furnished! Close to everything but felt secluded and private. There are neighbors but the lot is large with plenty of trees so it’s very peaceful without feeling isolated. Spent every night on the deck in the hot tub - stargazing and relaxing after a day of hiking, kayaking, shopping, and seeing the sites! Best view at the lake atop Eagle Rock just down the road. Don’t miss it!
Thoughtful touches throughout the property to make it feel like home. Lovely exposed beams and log construction/ fell in love with the place! Cozy, lazy mornings in a comfy bed and then out and about to see the wonders of nature! Had to do some work while I was there and no issues at all with the WiFi. Plenty of games for adults and kids and great movies if you need to spend time inside - but you’ve got all the entertainment you need with the outdoor patio with fireplace or in the hot tub. The little adjacent teenager hideout could provide a get-away for the kids too! It wasn’t skiing season but the entry way provided boot benches and racks to take off and hang up outerwear and gear. Nice transitional space to keep the cabin clean and clutter-free! Great indoor fireplace but we didn’t use it - outside on the deck at night! Used the grill a number of times - tools and storage bins made it easy and convenient. Real farmhouse kitchen was fun! Great gas stove and deep farm sink - plus easy access up outside when bringing in groceries and provisions.
Helpful instructions were posted and required little need to contact the host for help, but when we wanted to ask for a recommendation about places to see / Gavin was always responsive and helpful.
Enjoyed eating at Spoon just up the street, Red Hut in South Tahoe for brunch, and great ice cream in Kings Beach at Sweet Tahoe Time - free toppings bar and tables outside with games. Easy grocery shopping nearby or pick up some treats/gourmet at Obexers or Tahoe House Bakery - yum!!’
Don’t miss Sand Beach for kayaking, bouldering, and beach! Also took a day on the Rubicon Trail - memories will last a lifetime! Easy day trips to Donner Lake, natural wonder salty Mono Lake with its crazy tufa rock formations, lava glass mountain Obsidian Mound, and western entry to Yosemite! Amazing trip! We’ll be back!!
Timber cabin with character
The Blackhawk lodge was a delightful experience for our group of five during our march week long visit. The location is close to Tahoe city and a short 20 min drive to Squaw/Alpine meadows for great skiing. The decor and furnishings paired with the beautiful construction and stone hearth chimney charmed us with a little blast from the past. The beds were extra comfortable and linens and pillows were of premium quality providing great nights sleep. We enjoyed catching the “golden hour” in the hot tub after skiing; the sun setting over the the cabin. Kitchen is charming and well stocked for cozy dinners and breakfast in the dining room. Winter months in the area can provide some complications for such an old cabin but the owners Put in the effort to keep things running smoothly. They respond quickly and provide all the information and service to make sure you’re stay is enjoyable. If you are looking to stay in an authintic historical Tahoe timber cabin in a great location the Blackhawk lodge is the destination you will surely enjoy.
Perfect winter holiday with the kids!
Great cabin for a cozy holiday. Comfortable common area and ample privacy in bedrooms and the shack. Cool old gas stove was lots of fun to use and outweighed the fact there is no dishwasher. Nice hiking trails in the vicinity. Gavin was very easy to work with.
This is a very classic cozy cabin that worked awesome for our family of six. The owner was great, very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. You can walk to a trailhead or down to the water front. Very close to Tahoe City. We stayed during thanksgiving and had a little snow. The deck and outdoor areas seem like they would be awesome in nicer weather.
