Our 'Suite in a modern Hawaii house,' with an incredible view of South Point' is located on a non-certified sustainable organic farm. 'The Terraces' is the life long dream of founder, Stacey Richards. It was created to provide an environment for people to learn about their health and nutrition, as well as provide a venue for community activities. In Hawaii we have a word: 'Ohana'. Now, the literal meaning of Ohana is family.
but the way it is often used is to describe a guest house or spare bedroom, because that is where your Ohana would stay. So at The Terraces we try to provide both. A place to rest your head and a place where you feel at home. The Terraces is a place where you are treated as Ohana. We are glad to have you on the island, and believe that most businesses try to color your Hawaii experience one way or another. The point of our farm, is that we don't. Hawaii is a beautiful place. Where you can have fun all day, and always come back to our Ohana and yours. 'The Terraces' is a educational and demonstration sustainable farm. Located on the south side of Hawaii's Big Island. We specialize in every thing from fresh food, to the Hawaii experience. But every thing we do here we do with love, a smile, and the Aloha spirit. The Terraces' motto is, 'where small things matter, choose wisely.' Our mission is to provide an environment in paradise, where you choose your vacation. We have every thing from vegetables and meals, to Big Island knowledge. But that is far from the end product. Here we are trying to make a place, a home, and a foundation for the Hawaii experience YOU want. We have good cell phone service, and parking and we can tell you about many of the 'secret spots' in Hawaii ... but we do not have cable TV. We have plenty of fresh air and a 2980 foot elevation that makes air conditioning or heating obsolete. At night you can look out and on a clear night, see all the stars in the Milky Way that you miss in more 'civilized' locations. The suite has a large bedroom, large living room and bathroom. Infant and child beds, as well as floor mats are available. Teens and older children are welcome to sleep in our son's tree house, as he and his friends did many, many, nights. Preparing a light breakfast and lunch is fine, preparation of evening meals may, however, present a problem. We are neither a B&B nor a restaurant so we can not serve meals and charge for them. However, sit-down dinners are important to us. We welcome our guests, as friends, to eat with our family and contribute what they will toward the cost of food and preparation as a donation ... we have no hard and fast rules, we just want to keep it revenue neutral. We solicit your preferences and see meals as enjoyable social occasions, just let us know when you want join us and we will try to accommodate you, or if you need to have any box lunches made for your excursions. We find that some guests want to 'move in' and be part of the local community and even, on occasion, the family ... that's fine, others want an efficient and comfortable base to operate from on their vacation with a minimum of interaction, we respect and honor that approach too. For stays of one or two nights we ask for your understanding if we change your room assignment to a comparable room to accommodate a long term rental. The Hawaiian Ocean View Estates development consists of 10,697 1-acre, agricultural, lots north of the Hawaii Belt Road in the western part of the District of Ka'u. The terrain varies from rugged lava fields to ohi'a trees and other vegetation. Elevation ranges from about 1,500 ft (460 m) up to the 5,000-foot (1,500 m) level. Initial sales began in the late 1950s. The original developer of HOVE was the Crawford Oil Company. Later, other subdivisions were put in place down-slope of HOVE and the Hawaii Belt Road. In the early 1980s a service station and a hardware store were built. In January 2004, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park purchased the nearby property previously known as Kahuku Ranch. In 1989 the Ocean View Town Center was developed and the Ocean View Road Maintenance Corporation began an extensive rebuilding program of the roads. Shortly thereafter the Ocean View Development Corporation started a new market which included a laundromat and restaurant. Ocean View now has three shopping centers. There are now three gas stations, three grocery stores, a hardware store and and four restaurants. Ocean View has a post office with the ZIP code of 96737. There are Buses twice daily to Kona and Hilo except on Sunday, schedules may be found by searching for 'Heleon bus Hawaii'

pas entretenue ,on a loue une chambre chez le proprietaire

quelques conseils, mais la langue nous a fait defaut

je ne recommande pas cette location car on comprend pas ce qu'il loue au juste

bon resto à 19 kilometres, sur place , 3 kilometres , bof bof, sdf et babacools en masse

vite au volcan!

Phil and Stacey are a friendly and accommodating couple. We happened to arrive on a 'poker night' and got a free dinner out of it (didn't even have to lose any money by playing).

They're both a wealth of info on the area.

The room we had was very clean with an excellent bed and very fine bathroom facilities.

So hospitable

My wife and I stayed with Stacey and Phil for over a week. We are so pleased we chose them to stay with. Stacey has a green thumb and produces an overwhelming variety of fruits and vegetables. She is also the best cook in town. Phil knows the area, maybe better than the back of his hand. He guided us on a trip to the coast, bouncing over rough roads and wondering if the rental car people would find out, but it was worth the effort. If we're in the area again, we won't consider any where else to stay.

There's good food at the nearby Thai restaurant.

Fabulous Slice of Farming Heaven in Hawaii!

Stacie and Phil have a beautiful home on a fabulous little farm. They grow fruit, flowers, herbs, and veggies. Yep I said veggies! Beautiful scenic view from the house of all the surrounding Beaty that Hawaii offers. I missed my pets while I have been away and they also have super friendly cats and dog to get your pet fix! Stacie is a walking encyclopedia of all things Hawaiian and can give you many ideas of places to go and things to see!

I had a fantastic 6 night stay at their beautiful farm.

So don't just stay one or two nights stay a week!
