Fabulous house, fabulous location and such a warm welcome from David & Sue. Thank you!
We really could not fault our stay. David and Sue met us on arrival, showed us the house, answered all our questions and left us a wonderful gift of goodies. Their suggestions as to what to do were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our first Saturday night at Gensac for the Bastille day celebrations and fireworks.
The house provides plenty of space, a lovely salt water pool and really super bedrooms which are very tastefully done and spacious. It is well set up for al fresco dining. There are three barbecue options and a well equipped kitchen. The garden is lovely and private and there are vines right next door. There are also two chickens that appear every evening for a ceremonial strut around the garden! Very tame and quiet. Plus the farmer over the way has a herd of rather splendid goats (with bells) he walks out to pasture in the morning and then back in the evening.
The location is ideal, being comfortably rural and yes close enough to the towns and Dordogne attractions such as St Emillion and Bergerac. Sue arranged a tour of a local organic vineyard which really was excellent. A must even if you are not that interested in wine.
We took bikes with us and headed out each morning with our two young children. The roads were lovely and quiet and we enjoyed a different circular route out from the house each day.
The local village has a very well stocked Intermarche which saves the need to go to Saint de Foy for the large Leclerc. There is also a Spar in Gensac which stocks a very good wine selection. So much so that we got carried away!
Overall a very special week and made even more so by David and Sue. Many thanks! We would absolutely recommend the house as a place to holiday.
Dear Richard & Min thank you so much for taking the time to write on our review page, we so appreciate what you have written and thrilled by how much you had enjoyed your holiday .
David and myself enjoyed sharing a lovely chilled Pimms! with you both and enjoyed talking well into the evening. Our very best to you and the girls.
Beautiful family friendly farmhouse
For those who want a relaxing vacation with the nicest hosts look no further. The house is large with nice family touches (fully stocked kitchen, variety of fruit in the basket, trampoline, outdoor towels for the pool). Sue & David were incredibly attentive and helpful in making our stay comfortable. They even went above and beyond, coming over with saws in a storm when lightning struck the tree in the front yard, splitting off a large branch. Truly an adventure for all of us!
It was a real pleasure to welcome the super family from USA and a big thanks for choosing Haut Rigaleau. Yes it was an interesting storm!!!
Spending the afternoon with your boys...... they both beat me at table football!! was excellent fun. Wishing you all the very best , enjoy your summer. David& Sue
Perfect French holiday
We stayed at Haut Rigaleau for six days in may, we were greeted by Sue who showed us around their beautiful farmhouse.
We were given a welcome pack of baguettes butter wine ect, it was very welcome as we were quite late and all shops were shut.
The extensive house was perfect for our seven adults, with its swimming pool, table tennis, and outside seating area with a gas bbq.
David and Sue were very friendly and welcoming which added to a perfect holiday.
Leslie, Kay and the family were super guests, they came for a long weekend attending family wedding at Chateau Soulac,. It was lovely to see all the family making use of our outdoor games and pool together, thanks to you all a real pleasure to have you stay.
David & Sue
We had an absolutely wonderful stay - David and Sue were so welcoming and helpful, and the house is beautiful, has everything you could need and very comfortable. It's located very conveniently to two lovely villages with shops and bakeries - it's best to have a car, but we managed on bikes. Loved spending time by the pool and in the garden. A perfect stay.
It was a pleasure to welcome you all and yes you girls were amazing, bike brigade no car to get the shopping in how impressed were we.!!
Glad you loved the place and pool, we loved having you stay. Big thank you

AMAZING villa in beautiful location
A group of us stayed here when visiting the area for a wedding at a nearby Chateau. The villa is beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice!
Very spacious and really nice and modern inside, unlike a lot of French villas. It has an amazing pool, beautiful views and a nice shaded area for BBQing and eating outside!
Sue and David were so helpful and always on hand for anything we needed. Sue left us a lovely welcome pack and offered to pick up anything extra ahead of our arrival.
You need a car as it is quite remote, but local shop and restaurants are less than a 10min drive away.
Will definitely recommend and hopefully stay again!!
Thanks Sue and David!
Harriet and friends were super guests and it's been lovely to have their wonderful review. Thank you
Yes please do come back and take little more time and explore the area. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back.

A fantastic holiday for the family
We could not have been happier with our stay in Massugas. David and Sue were incredibly welcoming, kind and generous and they did everyting and far more to make sure that we had a wonderful holiday. From the welcome that we received on the first evening to a chat on the odd occasion when they dropped by to check everything was OK, they were the perfect hosts. This is a great house for a family (or for two families!) and it was a lovely place to unwind and enjoy hours by the pool, and then when it got a little cooler, exploring the region. Thank you David and Sue for helping us with our holiday so much. Hope we will see you again. Alastair, Hannah, Milly and Martha x
Such a lovely family, it was a real pleasure to meet you and your lovely girls.Hope you have a wonderful summer ahead.
Many thanks,David and Sue.
