Ideal vacation location
We loved staying here during our north shore vacation. The location is great with state parks close by in both directions. It was very quiet most of the time (neighbors were building something one weekend). We had adult friends with us a few days and kids and grandkids the other days. Plenty of space and room for various interests and activities. Owner was easy to communicate with and attentive to any questions or issues. I hate to recommend it so well as it may increase competition for spots next year!!
Good and bad, an adventure!
Arriving at the house, the driveway was certainly an adventure. The key did not work, but I was able to reach the owner and he provided another solution right away. I would definitely suggest driving all the way down the driveway, past the garage, to unload your car as going down the stairway next the garage with suitcases was difficult. The house was as it described, accommodated us comfortably, the kitchen is a nice size and the views were beautiful. There was at least one bedroom that I could tell would be a nice set up if you had a very young child or a baby as they had a crib in the room but it was not crowded. There is a stool and sink only upstairs and an updated bathroom with a shower downstairs. The downstairs toilet gurgles when you flush the upstairs toilet so don't let it freak you out like it did for us (Ha!). There are several older buildings on the property. Reading the journals from previous renters, it was interesting to read some of the history from the property. After spending the days up and down the North shore, we spent our evenings playing board games provided by the owner and by the bonfire on the seawall. Not everyone would be able to access that area, I do not believe, because you have to cross some larger rocks to get to it, but we were able to enjoy one evening there. We used the grill, which worked well as did the coffee pot, refrigerator and dishwasher. Cell phone service in the house was sketchy at best for all of us, until we walked to the top of the driveway. WiFi was available. An incredible summer storm came through one day and the power was out from 8 PM to 5 AM. After attempting the contact the owner, and calling local hotels only to discover they were full, we decided to stay that night. Power was restored early AM and we left that AM as scheduled. We drove around and found a neighbor. I suggested to the owner that he leaves a phone number for the guest to report a power outage and he agreed to do this. Communication and the driveway were a frustration, the beautiful views and comfortable accommodations were nice. The owner was very nice and later when I received my messages, I read that he did offer to reimburse us one night if we had decided to leave early. This house was comfortable, very affordable with no large fees the bring up the price. I have spent many years camping on the North shore, so I know weather, summer or winter, makes the rules. We still keep coming back!
Family get together on the North Shore
We stayed at Lupine Lodge for my folk's 40th anniversary. It accommodated our three families very well. We had 6 adults and 6 children. The children had fun playing in the back yard and swinging on the swing. We ate most of our meals at the house and the kitchen was well equipped. Rick was very good at responding to any questions I had! We enjoyed our stay!
Another Great Stay at Lupine
This is a great house for a large family to gather. The kitchen is easy to work in, and it's well stocked with utensils, pots and pans, and basics like garlic, basil, etc.
The house is in a great location relative to the attractions on the North Shore. Zup's not far away in Silver Bay is a good grocery store.
We love having a fire along the shore. We were able to see a few freighters, plus Saturn and Jupiter. Lake Superior looked great in a rain storm. Dinner in the screen house was great.
Rick is a great host. We were fortunate there was a cancellation we could take advantage of; it was our second stay at Lupine and it was just as fun as the first.
Great Family Vacation!
We have been staying at Lupine for years. It feels comfortable and like home. The location is wonderful, close to many attractions on the North Shore.
This is a beautiful place to stay so private and relaxing. This home was a close drive to so many beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails. We enjoyed our time spent at this cozy, clean private and beautiful home very much.
