Great Family Home for Extended-Stay Business Trip!
My family and I stayed here for about 5 weeks while on a business trip in Fort Worth. It was the perfect place to let the family spread out and have some space, rather than being cooped up in a hotel room. We also enjoyed the convenience to the new Kroger Marketplace shopping center for groceries. Gina, the hostess, was very easy to communicate with, and she went over and above to accommodate us and our unique needs. If you're looking for a clean, spacious, and comfortable alternative to a hotel room, this home would be a great choice!
Lovely place, but many shortcomings. Not how I would do business.
This place is lovely and spacious, but disappointed us in many ways. And let me preface the rest of this review by saying that, as an easy-to-please non-complainer, I almost always leave glowing reviews.
Shortly after we arrived, I pulled back the bedcovers in the master bedroom to replace the pillows with our own pillows we brought. I was shocked and rather disgusted to find food crumbs and pubic hair in the bed, indicating that the sheets hadn't been changed from the last guest. It was 4th of July week, and we knew it would be next to impossible to find a different place, so I stripped the bed and washed the sheets, which no one ever expects they will have to do upon arrival.
While the sheets were washing, I read the "rule book" that was left on the coffee table. I learned that it was not an oversight, but intentional, that the owners' regular practice is to leave only a "starter" amount of toilet paper, paper towels, laundry and dish detergent, etc. We were blown away that someone would rent a place and expect full payment for 7 days, but not provide basic necessities (NOT LUXURIES) for 7 days. Not even the crappiest, most run-down motels fail to provide basic necessities for the number of days rented.
As I continued to read, I learned that the hosts expect their guests to do a certain amount of cleaning themselves, such as stripping beds and washing towels, washing up all the dishes before they leave, etc. The place looks clean upon first entering, but then I noticed things like dirty baseboards and filthy corners in the bathrooms, boogers on the walls, a brown slimy buildup of gunk around the bathroom faucets, and dead spiders along baseboards from sloppy vacuuming.
If we had been free guests, or if this was a highly discounted property, I wouldn't have an issue with the way guests are expected to provide their own toilet paper, wash the sheets and towels, etc. But this was priced fairly high, plus they added on all these extra non-refundable fees (like "Administrative" fee), that nearly doubled the main listed price. I know that all listing have added fees, but these were really high, and for what was charged, at least the sheets should have been changed and we shouldn't have to go out and buy toilet paper. Some hosts provide lots of amenities, and these hosts were surprisingly stingy. I guess it's the other hosts that get great ratings and repeat business. Perhaps the hosts will reconsider their business practices.
David, we're sorry to hear certain aspects of your stay fell short. Cleanliness is of the utmost importance and we can confirm it is standard procedure to replace the beds with clean linens before every stay. Nonetheless, the homeowner will address your concerns with their trusted cleaning company to ensure it doesn't recur for future guests. The home is stocked with a starter set of essentials, which is standard for vacation rentals. It's also standard to ask guests to complete simple tasks prior to check-out as this greatly help streamline the cleaning process for the next guests checking in. The service fee is dictated by Vrbo and HomeAway, but we apologize if you felt it was too high. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and we are confident future guests will have exceptional stays! House in Ft Worth
Was a great neighborhood and nice house. Was close to the stockyards and anything else you need.
Nice clean house
the only thing I didn't like was the thermostat would default to 60 degrees at some point in the night and we would wake up to a very cold house.
James, the owner wanted to respond with the following message:
"Dear James, thanks for taking the time to give your feedback. While we wish you had a better stay, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to provide an excellent customer experience. We would be more than happy to receive a phone call should there be an issue so we could have promptly sent our technician. It is our commitment to ensuring that all our guests have an enjoyable experience so we can always rectify any issue during their stay. It's actually a brand new HVAC unit that was just installed a few months ago. It's a surprise to hear that there's an issue on temperature control. We apologize for the inconvenience that you had and sorry to hear that you were less than satisfied. Please rest assured that this issue has been addressed.
We value our guests' opinions and would like to thank you for bringing this to our attention. Kind regards, Gina"

How was clean. Customer service was great.
The house was nice, rained the entire weekend so the garage parking was nice. The only complaint we had was the beds were not very comfortable but still better than a motel and cheaper than staying in a motel
Okay, but leaves a lot to be desired.
Pros:
- Close to our venue
- Quiet neighborhood
- Once figured out, A/C was a lifesaver
Cons:
- One of our group walked in and asked why it smelled like a retirement home...funky smell in the house
- Severely lacking in flatware, utensils, drinking glasses, cooking pots and pans
- Absolutely no spices left by previous renters. Had to go buy all new salt, pepper, etc. to be able to cook own meals that aren't pre-packaged.
- The iron has something burned on it from previous renters, so it can really mess up your clothing should you use the iron.
Overall it was "okay". Good price, though the add-on costs do add up at checkout, so the rate quoted per night is not what you actually pay in the end. I don't think I would stay there again, but I've definitely stayed in much worse places.
Nate, thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. Your comments have been shared with the homeowners who have the following to say:
"Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you were less than satisfied during your stay. We work hard to provide an exceptional guest experience so we would like to address all the issues that fell short of your expectations.
First, it is a priority that we keep the place clean, comfortable and well-maintained. Our housekeeper uses standard cleaning aids like Pine-Sol or similar solutions. In addition to cleaning products, we likewise use air fresheners.
In regards to the kitchenware, we were surprised to discover there were only 2 drinking glasses, although several cups were there. We apologize that these were not enough to suit your needs and are happy to inform you that we have added 4 more glasses to bring the total to 6.
Basic condiments such as table salt, pepper and olive oil are all inside the kitchen cabinet. These are in the cabinet located on the upper left side of the stove/oven. Our housekeeper regularly conducts a physical inventory count so we can replenish these each time a new guest checks in.
Thank you for informing us about the condition of the iron. Our housekeeper doesn’t regularly check the bottom of the iron so she never saw this. We provide only high-quality appliances for our guests so we quickly tossed this out and replaced it with a new one after your stay.
We value our guests' opinions and would like to thank you for your candid feedback. We pride ourselves on the high standard that we maintain to ensure an outstanding guest experience. On top of this, we are pleased to announce that we have recently implemented many upgrades to the property. The dishwasher & garbage disposal are both brand new while the microwave, washing machine and kitchen faucet were only replaced lately. We likewise reinforced the lock and security of the place. For our guests' convenience, we also provide the initial supply of bottled water, coffee, laundry detergent, paper towel & dishwashing soap. We continue to improve the features of the property to make each stay a delightful experience. We hope to earn back your trust. It would be such a pleasure to welcome you back."
These homeowners work diligently to provide the optimal guest experience, and we are confident future guests will love staying here! Best, the Evolve Team
