Perfect Montauk Home
We loved our stay! Montauk is such a magical place and the best part is having a quiet, spacious, immaculate and comfortable home base.
The location of this Home is phenomenal! So close to the beach, town, Gurney’s and so much more!
Harvest and Crow’s Best are a couple mins down the road and are two of our absolute favorite restaurants. If we stayed longer we would have made use of the grill and enormous open floor plan kitchen, however for a long weekend having these incredible restaurants nearby made a couple of perfect evenings.
We would definitely stay again!
It's a clean house and they have a great set of pans in the kitchen. The pictures look beautiful, but it's taken with a wide lenses camera - it seems much smaller when you arrive. The fire place looks great too, but you'll soon discover (a couple of days before you get to the house) that you're not permitted to use it and a number of other things, like you'll be paying for utilities from your security deposit. It's an okay house, but I honestly think I can find better. Also, the pool will not be heated when you arrive and you'll have to wait a couple of days for it heat up (and you'll have to ask for directions first). If you are coming with 2 cars realize that you only get one parking beach pass. It turned out to be a nice vacation, but too many negative surprises in this house....
So sorry to hear that the house was not to your liking and not large enough for you and your group. However, to be perfectly frank, we were absolutely stunned to read your comments and references to “negative surprises”.
As depicted on the website and stated in the property description, the house measures about 2000 square feet (excluding the basement) with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. There are no deceptive photos posted on the website. In fact, several people commented that the photos do not do the house justice and were pleasantly surprised upon arrival.
Renters’ responsibility for their pro rata share of utilities is very clearly stated in the Rental Agreement which is provided to and accepted by the renter at the time of booking a stay, often several weeks in advance of the check in date. It is also standard practice with most Montauk home rentals.
All residents of the Hither Hills section of Montauk are given ONE beach pass and key to the private beach parking lots by the Montauk Beach Property Owners Association (for a fee paid by the owner). This is clearly stated in the property description on the website. It is also clearly stated on the parking pass itself - BOLD letters – one pass per household. This rule has been in effect for many, many years now. The beaches in Hither Hills are private and the MBPOA issues only one pass per household to ensure that every resident of Hither Hills can park their car at their neighborhood beach.
There is a heater in the pool. However, many renters choose not to use it during the heat of the summer. This is their choice and preference, not ours. It is beyond our control. To turn the heat on, simply turn the dial up to your preferred temperature setting and the pool will heat up in a very short period of time.
