A beautiful and sereine property to get lazy..
We spent two weeks at the beginning of August at Mulino the Aqua. The welcome by the owner was excellent. We were five adults with two kids so we have been able to enjoy the two houses. There is nothing to say about the property itself which is beautiful and well maintained. The property itself deserve a 5 stars.
The kids loved the pool and we loved relaxing in the gardens.
One slight minus is the quality of the road that will take you from Anqua to the main road to Radicondoli. If you are like us and want to travel a lot, you will not like that road by the end of your stay. Radicondoli and Belforte are nearby (count 15km and a good 30 min due to road condition) for restaurants and there is a party each Thursday in Radicondoli not to be missed.
Despite that, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for a stay in Tuscany out of time..
Dear Stéphane thank you for your words about the villa, I'm sorry if you've found the municipal and provincial roads in poor condition. I along with many other people have created a 'Radicondoli Committee' in support of maintenance of infrastructure and other problems of no governance. Personally and on behalf of residents and tourist activities of Anqua I wrote to the Mayor that in response started work on the municipal road. Thank you for your note which stimulated a positive reaction to the advantage of the whole community.
A magnificent retreat in the countryside!!
My family of eight stayed with Gerardo in early June for five nights. Words really do not do him or this special property justice. Gerardo was incredibly helpful and kind from start to finish. He had wonderful advice when planning our stay, and he was the consummate host while we were there. He cooked dinner for us our first night, and it was delicious and comforting after a long day of travel chaos. His homemade bread is superb!! Gerardo arranged a truly unique and wondrous evening for us with a local farmer and his family. We sampled cheese, toured the dairy and the vegetable garden, and then had a truly memorable cooking lesson with his wife Giovanna. We ate one of our best meals in Italy with their family, including the very talented photographer daughter Tamara. It was truly a highlight of our stay in Italy. We also toured many towns including Sienna, Arizzo, and San Galgano, The villa is located along the edge of a nature preserve so we literally walked out the gate and hiked up the hill to see a beautiful waterfall. We enjoyed the wild flowers and views of the distant towns along our walk. All of this was fantastic but the real show stopper is the villa itself. Gerardo has literally put his heart and soul into restoring this amazing property. Every detail (and I mean every detail) has been thought of. The pool is such that one need never leave the property. Gerardo’s eye for beauty is on point in every sense of the word. The two villas (each two bedrooms- and we used both) were so well appointed and decorated that they were a feast for the eyes and senses. His cherry trees bore us wonderful fruit, and the AC pumped out nice cold air. We dined al fresco several evenings under the magnificent wisteria arbor next to the pool. One night we made pizza in the wood fired brick oven. Another night we had a memorable family evening around the fire pit. We enjoyed every inch of this property inside and out!! This is the type of place you travel to in order to escape from the hustle and bustle of touring crowded cities. By the end of our stay we felt like we had made a new friend, and we sure hope to see him again some day. In short, the property and its owner Gerardo are simply sublime!
Liz and beautiful Family, Thank you! I am glad that the villa and the work I put in it let me know and became friends of such beautiful people like you! It was fun and joy for me having you and share with you my knowledge of Tuscany and near by local Farm...You are loving and generous!
