The Artist Cottage was the perfect home away from home for our family. Sherry and Ivan are so nice and very helpful with suggestions for things to do. The house was very clean, comfortable, and stocked with most necessities. Having a reserved parking spot and being able to walk to all the places in Bar Harbor was a plus! If we make it back to Bar Harbor we would definitely try to stay here again.
This lovely family from Sherry's home state of Virginia were so much fun to host.
We were able to encourage their 4th grader to get his "4th Grader National Park pass" so his whole family could get in free to Acadia. They loved Diver Ed as we knew they would. Ivan and Ed worked together as Harbormaster and Deputy Harbormaster back in the day. We are happy to hear that they may stay with us again and, on this day, we wish them a very Happy July 4th in Virginia.
This cottage was perfect in every way! The location was fabulous, no need to move your car once you are there. It was spotless and very comfortable. The kids loved the upstairs bedroom. We loved sitting on the porch and watching all the activity of the town. Sherry and Ivan were great hosts, very friendly and always just a text message away if you need them. Great vacation!
Perfect in every way!
The Artist Cottage was the perfect spot to stay while enjoying beautiful Bay Harbor. Spacious, neat, clean and with all the comforts of home. The hosts couldn’t have been more accommodating or helpful. It was a truly wonderful experience staying there! Thank you from Texas!
Texas has discovered our island, and we are so happy about that. These Artist Cottage guests not only enjoyed our little village but visited in some of our other favorite coastal towns. So nice to share Bar Harbor and coastal Maine with visitors from the Lone Star state, and we hope they will come again!
My husband and I made our reservations many months in advance and we long anticipated our time in Bar Harbor and at the Artist Cottage. Well, it did not disappoint.
The cottage is so well appointed and comfortable. Lots of windows, great porch/deck, a cooks kitchen with everything you need. We were so close to all of the action. While relaxing on the porch my husband took up a new hobby..... watching and grading people's parallel parking jobs! We had a few good laughs.
Sherry greeted us and shared some of her tips for our visit. We met Ivan when we went to the gallery next door....lovely people! We will dearly miss Bar Harbor and the cottage! Hope to return some day!
We realize how hard it is to book far in advance and to finally have a long awaited Bar Harbor vacation. It is so nice to get a review from someone who has owned a vacation rental because they especially appreciate the subtle little touches.
So glad these seasoned travelers loved the porch. It is wrap-around with a long padded bench for resting, two lounge chairs, an antique bench with handmade side tables as well as a table and chairs for outdoor dining.
We indeed look forward to their return as there is so much to do that they could not accomplish on this first trip. Our island captivates as it has since Native Americans canoed here for summer respite….choosing a site right on our street to set up camp.
"Best Cottage Ever"
Our family has been coming up to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park since 2010. We would stay in a cottage in Eden and ride to many different area's through out Mt. Desert Island and the mainland. This year we decided to stay in Bar Harbor and it was our "Best Vacation Ever". No driving all over looking for a parking space while maneuvering the congested traffic, we were provided with our own parking space behind the cottage with "EVERYTHING" within walking distance. The cottage had spacious and wonderfully furnished rooms with all the amenities we could want for . There was plenty of room for my wife and I, and our son, we could have brought a 4th person being the 2nd bedroom had 2 beds. And the cottage has a front wrap around porch where we would hang out and recharge while enjoying the views of Bar Harbor with a gentle bay breeze. So that's why we called this review "Best Cottage Ever" which in turn gave us the "Best Vacation Ever".. And Thanks a Bunch to the owners Sherry and Ivan who were openly easygoing, always a pleasure to talk to and always near by to be reached in a moments notice if necessary.
Thanks again Sherry and Ivan
Oh, that is the sweetest review. We are forever grateful for the lovely families like this one who enjoy the cottage and the Bar Harbor walkability. We live right in the village ourselves because we love walking to the Shore Path, 1932 Art Deco theater, wonderful grocery and health food store, free bus to the National Park, etc. Bar Harbor's amenities, as Joe & family found, are boundless! Thanks and come on back!
A memorable week at the Artist Cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Artist Cottage with Sherry, our gracious hostess. The cottage was very comfortable, spacious, well furnished, and supplied with most anything we needed. The location is excellent, within walking distance to many restaurants and shops, grocery stores, Bar Island, shore walking path, etc. Traveling from the South, we were surprised at how cold it was during our week, but the cottage was always comfortably warm. The cottage is appropriately named with it delightful selection of paintings. A very memorable week!
Ivan and I were delighted that this group of seasoned Bar Harbor travelers picked Artist Cottage for their stay this June. I had to smile at how quickly they settled in and started planning to visit favorite spots….like a long time favorite of ours, "Parson's Lobster". Also, we loved that they enjoyed our selection of fine Maine art.
In Maine we say, "if you don't like the weather, wait a minute". It was unseasonably cold during the early June week but we supply heaters and blankets enough to warm our many southern visitors. Fortunately as the week progressed the days got warmer. Pleased that they found the cottage cozy.
We want to, once again, thank these lovely folks for choosing our cottage. We hope they will return many years to the island they have come to love.
