Wonderful house and yard in a very convenient yet quiet neighborhood
We stayed for two month's this winter and really enjoyed it. Nice single level, gated with a carport and medium size pool. The yard is mature with Avocado, Mango, and Fig or Ficus tree's. The kitchen is a little basic with no dishwasher and could stand to have some new pots and pan's. That being said we totally enjoyed our time here as well as
getting to know the lovely cleaning lady (Conchie) and Rosa the owner who has here
wonderful painting's throughout the home.
Lots of space and great location
My family and I enjoyed staying at this house in Merida, it was very close a Spanish language school (three blocks away) and there are plenty of places to eat out and also grocery stores to prepare food at home. The owner was very flexible with us at check in and check out, since we had some delays with our flights when arriving. The cleaning lady did a good job keeping everything clean and the pool was maintained. We enjoyed the fresh flowers and fruit at our arrival, very nice touch. Very safe neighborhood and ease of access to it. Great place to stay for a vacation in Merida. Highly recommended
A home away from home
First of all I want to talk about Paulino (the owner's son). Paulino handles the bookings for this property and let me tell you he does an incredible job. It's a pleasure dealing with him. I had several questions and each and every one was answered in a timely fashion. The villa is in a very nice area. Resurants and grocery stores are in walking distance. The home is just like how the photos show on Homeaway. No surprises! The backyard is very peaceful with lots of birds always chirping. The backyard is quite private with lots of trees and vines. Depending upon the season you rent you will see mangos, oranges, avocados and even bananas. Nelsy (our maid ) is a beautiful woman, so do yourself a favour and if you're renting longer than a week, hire her....then you won't have to clean and you'll be helping out a beautiful woman. Nelsy couldn't speak English, so we really got to practice our Spanish with her. And many times she would correct us. There was always a lot of laughs. A beautiful woman from the inside out. We were very fortunate to meet the owner Rosa. Again another wonderful woman. She says her English isn't very good, but I told her if we could speak Spanish the way she speaks English we would be very happy!! Rosa was always willing to help us out to make our trip to Merida more pleasurable. Yes we had some hiccups along the way, but everything was handled in a timely fashion. The only thing that my husband and I would have loved to have was a patio set outside. So we could have eaten our meals outside by the pool. The villa is not close to Centro, so you would have to take a taxi. But taxis don't cost a lot anyway. Thanks Rosa and Paulino for making our stay in your villa so memorable. I really enjoyed my stay in this house. The owner was responsive for the few issues we had. I would recommend it.
This house was really quite nice. We found all the bedrooms very spacious and the dining room actually has seating for up to 10 people. The neighborhood is very quiet with minimal traffic on the street. We found Merida to be a very driveable city however parking in the centro can be a bit hard to find. Often we left the car at the house and took Uber to the historic center. It only cost around $30 pesos for a trip. The off-street (gated) parking at the house was very handy. Groceries and many restaurants are only three or four blocks walk. We enjoyed sitting by the pool in the evening and watching the night sky. We only had one issue - a malfunctioning coffee maker - and the property manager took care of it right away. So, overall we had a great experience and would not hesitate to stay again or recommend this home to other travelers to Merida. Our favorite sights to see ... Celestun biosphere preserve (pink flamingos), Maya Pan ruins (only 40 km away off the road to Valladolid) and the music and folk dancing on Thursday evening in the park Santa Lucia ... get there a bit early as it gets busy and all the seat get taken.
