We had such a great trip. Kids were comfortable, easy walk to beach. Cart was in working condition, easy to get around the island. Used Sandie’s for grocery delivery, we hardly needed to go anywhere for meals aside from the well stocked kitchen. Mango’s was a fun atmosphere and the pool was fantastic when we needed a break from the beach. I would absolutely stay here again. We weren’t right on the water, but you could see easily from the crow’s nest for sunsets. Great value for the price.
Check in was easy. Be prepared, they want you out by 9:30am the next morning so have your things ready the day before. We had to hang out until our ferry, so we went to Barnacle’s when it opened and had food/drinks.
Lots of wildlife, including dolphins and manatees, gopher tortoises, birds, etc. Such a great time!!
Thank you for taking the time out to write this review. We really appreciate your feedback. We are so happy to hear your family had a great time on North Captiva Island and we hope to see you again soon!
First Island Experience
We have done other VRBOs but none quite like this one on an island. The island is nice with the coast literally a block away. We did expect to have connection directly with the property owner but were redirected to the North Island Captiva Island Club which this owner is a member of. They were helpful but it would have been nice to have direct contact with the owner of the property as well to find out exactly what we could and could not have access to on the property. For example, the garage to the owner's golf cart was open but we received a cart from the Island club so we did not feel we were allowed to use it and had no way of connecting with the owner to ask permission. Also, I have found that the owner's are often helpful with the "inside scoop" of the area with different recommendations on activities or places to eat. The overall property was well kept. We could have used directions on the use of the hot tub. It was not turned on from the circuit box which we were able to finally find and turn on. It worked great after that but it took a bit just to get familiar with how it operated. The overlook deck was great, maybe a few more chairs up top would be nice to have. The overall cleanliness of the house was also good. It would have been nice to know that there is literally NOTHING else in the cupboards or fridge. We have been use to a few spices or ketchup, mustard, things like that left behind from past renters. The utensils available were acceptable...might be nice to get a new coffee maker. Trying not to be too negative, just trying to lay out some facts. The restaurants were "ok" but pretty overpriced in our opinion. Overall, the beach was beautiful and it served a great family get away as it was very quiet. Thank you for the opportunity to rate your property.
Thank you for your honest review of our property! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay on North Captiva Island. We look forward to hosting you again in the future!

A beautiful vacation
We usually go to Sanibel or Captiva for our Spring Break trip, but wanted to try something different this year. We were not disappointed! We had a wonderful week in this terrific home. The beach is steps away, but you have to check the tide schedule so as not to be disappointed. The island is peaceful and restorative. So amazing how the lack of cars really helps in winding down. Golf cart didn’t work, but NCIC gave us a replacement. They were very helpful. Packed up the golf cart everyday for the beach a few streets away and the kids loved the sand bar and how gorgeous it was. We saw dolphin and manatee and all sorts of birds every day. Played tennis, kayaked, but forgot to ride bikes! Came home, made dinner and watched the sunset on the roof top deck. Just fantastic. The house is close to the air strip and Barnacle’s which was cool. Location was quiet and allowed for an easy walk on the beach in both directions (when the tide was out)
The house was well equipped and clean overall. It actually has 3 bathrooms which was a bonus. We would have liked to have had a pair of scissors, maybe travel mugs for the beach and a broom/dust pan in order to sweep up each day. Beds were comfortable. There seemed to be a couch or chair missing in the tv area, but we were comfortable enough(2kids and two adults). The furniture and carpet were beginning to show a bit of wear. The art work was fun and appropriate. There were games to be played (and if we had known we wouldn’t have brought our own). We left all of our beach toys (again purchased because there was no way to know what was there.) picked up beach chairs from NCIC (which was important because the house didn’t have any.) The umbrellas were a bit weak in the wind and the only strong one had a tear. The ones you buy from the Mango store were adequate as long as there wasn’t wind, but it would be nice for renters to have an adequate beach umbrella.
We brought enough food and used Debbie’s service. Expensive but worth it. Used Boats n Fun to get on and off the island because of our arrival and departure times (didn’t work easily with the ferry.) they were great, too. Should have brought less clothes! Ate at The Boardinghouse and it was yummy. Didn’t make it to the other one. Pools and bar were always busy, but still had room. Everyone tried to make our stay enjoyable.
I don’t want to seem negative in any way just factual. This was a great house on an amazing island. We will be back!

This house was very roomy and comfortable for our family of six. We loved that the bedrooms are on a different floor than the main living area so if someone was sleeping the TV & kitchen noise did not bother them. The sunset view is fantastic and the house is only a very short walk to the beach, so close we did not feel the need to drive the golf cart to get our chairs, cooler, etc. to the beach. In our opinion, the location is perfect! The house was very nicely appointed and clean. We will definitely rent this house again in the future!
a very nice island beach house
This vacation rental is a beautiful home and is in very good condition for a Florida island beach house...no rusty, sharp-edged patio furniture and no moldy smells in the house. It's less than a minute to the beach and has spectacular views from the crow's nest.
The place looks just like the pictures...nice vibrant colors, beach-themed and very Floridian.
It's a nice sized 3BR, 2 1/2BA home.
Compared to the many huge homes on the island, this one looks simple, but it's comfortable and spacious inside.
This home rents through North Captiva Island Club, and they provide competent service and are friendly and helpful when answering questions about grocery pre-orders, water taxi reservations, details about this rental, etc....
Overall, the home is a great rental for a nice island experience.
