Needs major investment
The setting is beautiful however the Loon Cottage needs major investment. Some needs are cosmetic, others are for safety reasons. Everything is mismatched, dishes, glasses, cups. Bath towels are in decent shape, hand and face towels are old, frayed and need to be made into rags. The mattresses were awful! The cottage was dirty. But, the real concern was that the wiring was inadequate for the equipment available. If the microwave was on longer than 40 seconds, than the breaker tripped. The fire alarm did not work, there was no CO2 alarm. The foundation was being undermined, evidence by cracks in original fireplace, and walls in kitchen, bathroom, and living room, and slanting floors in different directions in those three rooms. With the foundation and wiring issues, this cottage is truly unsafe. Cannot imagine that it could pass any minimum inspection. Will never pick this place again.
Thanks so much for your input and we are so sorry to hear you did not enjoy your time at Loon Cottage. As our others reviews have shown, people generally love the rustic and quirky nature of the cottage.
Quaint and peaceful cottage
From the friendliness of the owners to the delightful decorating of the cabin and the beautiful view, we loved our stay! The area was quiet and not far from the activities of Burlington. The cabin was a step back in time in it's coziness and charm. No TV for us - we enjoyed the view and the peacefulness of the lake environs.
We may be back!
We loved it and will be back next year! Very charming cottage. Just right for relaxing.
My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the Loon Cottage for eight nights, and it was amazing! Bev and Gordon were so friendly and helpful, we truly enjoyed getting to know them! We were able to bring our 15ft boat and use their dock, along with storing our trailer on their property. This was a great experience since we love to fish and spent everyday out on the lake, we caught so many fish! The cottage is so cute and decorated as a lake house would be. They gave us great recommendations for dinner and treated us like family. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you Bev, Gordon and Diesel for your hospitality and making our honeymoon perfect!
Very relaxing, wonderful hosts.
We spent a few peaceful days enjoying our time with our daughter. Bev and Gordon were wonderful. We wish we could have spent more time at the house it was comfortable, cozy and perfect for the three of us. Much thanks to our gracious hosts!
My friend and I took a chance on a different house rental this year and we were so glad we did! Bev and Gordon (and Diesel) were the perfect hosts..made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. The house was so cute, very clean, with a well stocked kitchen and just the right size for 2 or 3 people. You have a nice beach area by the water to sit and relax. Close to Burlington for day trips. Can't wait to return next year!
Property is to be left in the same condition at the end of your visit (clean sheets/towels and dishes) as when you arrived. Please empty the fridge, wipe down the counters and clean the bathroom, and sweep and vacuum the floors. Leave the key on the fridge and leave the door unlocked. Trash and recycling are to the north of the garage. Thank you!!!
