Communication with property owner is very easy—he always answers promptly and is very accommodating. We have stayed here several times—I think this was our fifth visit. We usually stay in May and December and even at 20 below the cabin is toasty warm—very important to those of us who aren’t accustomed to such frigid weather! Looking forward to a return visit.
Very cute cabin in the woods.
Felt more like coming to a real home, than a rental property. Loved the stocks of things provided, including cooking utensils, spices, groceries and bathroom stuff.
Only thing that was frustrating was the flow of water in general, and especially in the shower.
Remote and private, yet not far from everything.
I found this cabin to be exactly what I was looking for.
I wanted it to be free standing without anyone else using the same structure with woods surrounding it and that is what I got. We even had a moose walking around the house a couple times. This cabin is in the thick of the forest but easy to get to. It was covered in snow the whole time I was there.
Heater worked great and was able to maintain 75F one night inside while it was -44F outside. Very quaint living area and kitchen. Too much snow to enjoy the very large deck. Extension cord was available for the engine block heater.
Mark is a great host. He lives walking distance away but you can’t see his place or hear them because of the trees. He came over a couple times to help me with a couple things and found him to be very accommodating, very friendly and helpful with references for restaurants and things to do in Fairbanks. I would not suggest eating or visiting Ivory Jacks at the end of the road. I would highly recommend stopping by Tails of the Trail and meeting Mary Shields, she is a 70 year old woman that holds the title of the first woman to ever finish the Iditarod. You will pass her quaint cabin on the way to this one.
Mark is very laid back and will be there if you need him.
Highly recommend renting this cabin!!!
Quite and secluded
Mark was very nice and provided very good, detailed information on how to get there. Also with where to shop. Will recommend to anyone going to the area for a few days.
Great property for a casual Alaskan experience trip!
My wife and I decided to take a quick winter trip to Alaska and we knew we wanted more from the experience than staying in some big chain hotel. After a lot of research, we chose this property for both the location and the appearance/reviews. Mark is a great host and the property was everything we wanted. It's rustic, but with all of the comforts we wanted. The location is fabulous. It's far enough from town and so deep in the woods that you feel like you're really "roughing it", but in the end, it's still close enough to everything that dinner in Fairbanks or doing the tourist thing in North Pole is very easy. There's a nice restaurant/bar/liquor store/gas station just a few miles from the cabin. All in all, we both highly recommend staying here. Enjoy!
A wonderful place to get away!
It was perfect for our little get away! The perfect amount of seclusion, but not too far from town. Everything we needed for cooking up our little meals was provided. Mark was very helpful in orienting us to the cabin and possible sights nearby. We would love to come back in the future!
