Once again sweet memories were made while staying at Beachy Keen! I highly recommend this house. It is right on the beach and the view is awesome and the sunrises are stunning. The owners are fantastic people and very accommodating. No better place to stay . I have been renting this house since 2012 and the experiences just keep getting better and better!!
Location, location, location!
If you want to stay right on the beach, then Beachy Keen is the place for you. The beach is not crowded and so beautiful. View the sunrise from your own deck! You are also within walking distance of a couple of very good restaurants. Downtown is just a short drive with more terrific restaurants and entertainment for all. I highly recommend Beachy Keen on Fernandina Beach. By the way, communicating with the owners is so quick and easy. So, go ahead and book Beachy Keen for your next vacation. You don’t regret it!!!

Our stay was nice and relaxing. The house was just the right size. The view was amazing and we pretty much had the beach to ourselves. The only issue we had was the fitted sheet for the bed was the wrong size. The Salt Life Restaurant is a couple of blocks away and the food was delicious. We also recommend the red velvet custard and DeNucci's. Would definitely recommend this place for a quiet, laid back get away!

The stay was good, until we checked out...
We enjoyed our stay, up until we checked out. Rich (the owner) was very responsive before our stay, and it was definitely helpful. However, after we checked out he sent us a nasty message saying his cleaning service told him that we left his place trashed. This was completely not the case. If we were treated respectively post leave and not accused of false actions, I would then be inclined to leave a high rating.
When we checked out, there were two dishes in the sink that needed to be cleaned and maybe a deep scrub on the counters. Believe me, we wiped the counters before leaving, but did not get every little bit. We emptied all the trash cans (from all rooms), and washed one bed set. Through out the week, we swept common room multiple times and even brought out the vacuum once.
Rich accused us of leaving all the dishes out on the counter, beer cans everywhere, broken glass bowls, molded food in the fridge, towels thrown out side on the ground, etc. Seriously, based on his description, it sounded like a frat party occurred and we did not know about it. I would have been totally upset as well.
It might be an issue with his is cleaning service, trying to find reasons to vouch for a large charge instead of small charge. When we checked-in, there was a lawn chair which looked like it was thrown from the deck. I would assume the cleaning service would at least put the chair back on the deck, however we did not even bother to mess with it because it was under some brush and not easy to get to. Beds were not dressed (just the comforter, and nothing else), so we had to dress all the beds when we got there (something we felt not big enough to complain about).
When Rich messaged us of these accusations we immediately attempted to call him, to talk it through it and he would not call us back. I am honestly feeling horrible based on these accusations. It is unnecessary, given the effort we did to make sure his precious home was not left unkempt. Ultimately, he ended up charging us damage fees. I could care less about the money. It is the principle that bothers me, and the way we were treated.
The message you refer to is a forward of the message that my cleaning person sent me after you checked out so I have to rely on her input after all guests check out. As was the case with dirty dishes you left for her to clean when the rental agreement states there is a charge for this and the broken bowls.
The lawn chair was broken by the previous guest so I had my cleaning person set it under the deck as I explained to you earlier. All bed linens are set on top of beds as explained in the welcome letter we sent you so the cleaning person knows which beds were used. Before your stay of the dozens of text messages you sent I told you that Walmart had the beach shade tent you were looking for then when you arrived you asked me to pay 1/2 ( $40) of the cost? I refused. Then my phone was blown up after that. We have to stand by our rules in our rental agreement.
