Pleasant location and very well supplied.
We rented 3 apartments in different towns on this trip in March 2018, all roughly the same price per day, so our comments are in comparison to the other apartments., which seems fair.
Don is very friendly and helpful, and communication was excellent. The apt. Is as pictured.
We liked the location. Even though it up a shortish steep hill , ( a 5 min. Walk ), at the bottom of the hill Paseo De La Pressa has:
The bus stops to Centro and return ( Don will explain how to use them ) They run often and are only 5 pesos. We sometimes walked to town, but more often took the bus, and an occasional Uber back to the apt.
An excellent coffee shop, Cafe Tal, with a great roof top patio. Just up the street is a park and lake and Casa Maria Bonita where we often had breakfast on the patio overlooking the park.
There are several other restaurants close and also convenience and produce shops. It is a friendly residential area.
The apartment, although the smallest of the three, is very clean and well very supplied with necessities, Don has obviously been conscientious about this.
Unusually, the bedroom is in one building, the kitchen and bathroom in another, separated by about 2 meters, so there are two lockable front doors. More locking and unlocking of doors than we are used to. There is also a lockable entrance door to the patio. Security seems good.
The bedroom is pleasant and has good bedding and a very nice storage cabinet, enough room to open up suitcases, 2 small windows, but a very hard bed. The kitchen / sitting room worked for us.
The bathroom is very compact but works fine, hot water is good. We didn't cook so can’t comment on that. The WiFi was reliable. Even though the listing says this is the quietest neighborhood in town, this was by far the noisiest of the 3 rentals, often dog barking and rooster noise. But, not much traffic noise and with the bedroom windows closed the noise is pretty well blocked and we didn't often need earplugs overnight.
In March the days were often hot, the nights cool. We were glad we bought warmer clothes. We used the heater sometimes. Nice to sit on the patio for a cool drink, and in March the Grapefruit tree was blooming with a lovely perfume.
We certainly enjoyed our stay in Guanajuato and found it the most interesting town, the apartment is in a pleasant area, and Don was an excellent host.
Regarding the noise Peter mentioned, he and his wife visited over a three-day weekend in observance of a national holiday. Such events are generally celebrated in Guanajuato with plenty of fireworks, with which any dog within earshot tends to voice its displeasure. Fortunately, none of our immediate neighbors own dogs, so the barking is muffled by some distance. Some neighbors down the street do keep chickens, so the occasional rooster wanders past La Casa Rosa and makes its presence known. Part of the charm, I think, of living in México.
👍🏻 Lovely stay!
Don and Gela were wonderful hosts. They are both bilingual so you can communicate in English or Spanish. They were eager to help us understand how to get around Guanajuato. The apartment is very tastefully decorated and the kitchen has just enough pots and utensils for whatever you want to cook. I would stay there again if I return to Guanajuato and I hope to! A very quiet, tidy, and comfortable apartment for one or two peoplle!
Don and his wife live on-site and were very helpful with our questions but gave us plenty of privacy. There’s a lovely patio/garden area with a table and chairs to enjoy being outside. It was a great experience!
This house was quiet, clean and private. It was clean and had all of the necessary amenities. The only thing we wish it had was a breezeway between the bedroom and the kitchen/bathroom. We were there for 4 weeks to learn Spanish. While the walk to town was about 20-25 minutes, it was a pleasant way to start every morning. If your not heading into town, there is plenty around La Presa. Don was very friendly and gave us our privacy. He was also helpful with local landmarks and places to eat. I'd recommend this to anyone staying in Guanajuato.
