Beautiful, well-appointed house in lovely location
Spacious well-fitted house that easily accommodates 8 people. There is plenty of outside living space and a lovely pool with views across the countryside. Lots of interesting things to do in the region including local markets and activities around the river and canal.
Magnificent Maision is a great place to stay!
We arrived on Tuesday the 2nd August to perfect weather in Bordeaux and we were extremely excited when we arrived at the property after around a 1hr drive. The location of the house is perfectly situated in that its remote enough for peace and quiet but only a few minutes drive into the local village if you wanted a bit more contact with civilisation.
The house is well maintained and has all the quirks of an old house that has been sympathetically restored but without making it to modern and the rooms were all a good size!
The swimming pool was a fantastic size and the kids actually loved this part the most; they must have spent 4-5hrs per day in here, it is well maintained and was a nice 27-28C the whole time we were there and you could swim even at midnight if you wanted.
We were a group of 9 (4 adults & 5 children) and the space was perfect for this (you could have actually had another 2 children stay with no issue).
The outdoor barbeque area was great, we actually ate here every night with food bought locally, the kids loved having everything barbequed!
We also went to a few local markets which were around 30 minutes drive, caves which were about 1hr away (hire car a must have) again all good days out.
Finally Renee the housekeeper was only a few minutes away if you needed her and she certainly tested our French speaking abilities, she was very helpful!
We would recommend this as a family holiday for anyone who likes to be in their own space and really relax in beautiful surroundings.
Getting to Bordeaux airport from the UK is not only cheap but quick which was a plus when travelling with small children!
Thanks Susie for a great stay from all of us!
House for a family celebration
A great week at La Tour for a family celebration. We were fortunate with the weather which meant that we ate outside every evening and played in the swimming pool and the grounds. It was fascinating to hear young kestrels in the barn and to see a young owl straying too far from home! It suited all of us from very young to old and we loved it. The children had fun in the big bath in the main bedroom. Thank you.....
A spacious and picturesque period property set in peaceful countryside
We had two weeks of glorious weather in this quiet, relaxing house, the rooms were spacious and the property easily accommodated a dozen people. The house has been sympathetically decorated and was comfortable. A couple of minor problems with the hot water and the pool were quickly sorted out by the owner who was helpful and easy to contact throughout our stay.
We found some lovely countryside to visit in easy cycling distance and some good fishing in both the Garonne and the canal which runs alongside it. The area is rural and unspoilt with a good variety of wildlife literally on your doorstep.
The only negative thing that could possibly be said of this area is that it is perhaps a little too quiet. Whilst there are several supermarkets in easy reach there is not much choice of restaurants and their opening times are a little limited making it important to plan ahead if you intend to eat out.
We would recommend this property to anyone seeking a holiday in comfortable surroundings where you are able to completely unwind.
Beautiful house, ideal family retreat.
We loved every minute of the holiday here, wouldn't hesitate in staying again. Great homely feel and was hard to leave. Plenty to do, close to Bordeaux., Bergerac and many local markets. A gem, with a lovely housekeeper Renee!
A bit of paradise
What a superb long weekend....such a beautiful house in an extremely pretty location. This trip was everything we wanted it to be. A chance to relax and enjoy the lovely surrounding villages. I would recommend this to all. I will definitely be going back.
