Family holiday (2 adults and 3 teenagers)
What a beautiful place! So peaceful and stunning scenery. House was very comfortable and spacious. The pool and outside area was wonderful, we loved watching the birds early morning swooping in to dip their beaks in the pool. Village is nice but very small with a couple of nice restaurants, larger villages either side have greater choice of restaurants. Best place to eat in Sedella was Lorenza - lovely couple who were so friendly and kind and really looked after us- highly recommend this place. Mountain roads are not too scary and have stunning views. Highly recommend this place, Caroline, the owner, was super helpful, thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful house, Vicky and Andy
It was so good to hear that you enjoyed and appreciated the location and the house. It was a pleasure to host you and we hope you will return one day. Thank you so much for your comments.
Stunning panoramic view and lovely villa!
We had a great holiday here with our family this summer. The villa is large, beautiful and extremely well-equipped. The master bedroom is particularly good - huge with large doors onto a big rooftop patio and an en suite. The photos don't do it justice. The pool is crystal clear and a good size. And the view - spectacular! Also the pretty village of Sedella is only 12 minutes walk away, so nice to stroll up for a morning coffee or a meal or for some food shopping each day. Tosh the house manager and Sherri were brilliant - really helpful and also full of ideas of places to visit. Highly recommended!
So good to read that you enjoyed your visit and thank you for taking the time to review the house - this helps others when making a decision to book.
I do hope that you will return.
Beautiful area for a relaxing holiday.
The villa was ideally situated to enjoy the surrounding countryside. There is everything you could imagine you would need for a comfortable stay at the villa, very private. All amenities fully working and comfortable. We spent most of our time in the wonderful pool over looking the valley, watching the eagles and the goats were highlights. The local villages of Sedella and Competa have lovely bars and restaurants . Great villa .
We spent a marvellous two weeks at this villa. Everything that you need is there, including use of the barbecue (thank you!).
The pool was sublime; but a pity we couldn't use sunscreen whilst in it, even wearing t-shirts we managed to get sunburnt!
The walk to Sedella is okay, but not 'pretty', and if anyone has trouble with walking, maybe not so good for them. We just had trouble with teen kids not wanting to walk, but they cheered up when we spotted lizards, crickets etc - although after a while that novelty wore off!
The villa itself is very, very good; the Master Bedroom and adjoining sun terrace - bliss! Spent most evenings here (after a fantastic meal at Lorena's) with a glass - or two - watching the sunset, and even a terrific show of thunder and lightning one night, and a partial Lunar Eclipse on another.
Bathrooms are clean and spacious; as are the kitchen and dining room - although we didn't eat in either of them; I was afraid that large, heavy, rugby-playing lads would easily demolish the beautiful chairs!
The lounge is airy and comfortable, but again, we didn't spend much time in here - the weather and the views are too good to miss!
The WiFi apparently doesn't work in some parts of the villa - but as we live on a Scottish island, we're used to that happening at home. so it wasn't a major issue.
Sedella is wonderful - as are all the Axarquia villages - and I strongly recommend visiting as many as possible; Moorish gems are Archez and Sayalonga, the latter with Fuente del Cid, where the legendary hero is thought to have quenched his thirst (or, as my 15yr old said "where some dude once had a drink").
The route/road to the village may seem daunting. but just key in the Spanish postcode to Google Maps and it directs you straight there.
Tosh and Sherry are brilliant; friendly, helpful and informative, and thank you, David and Caroline, for letting us stay at your gorgeous home!
Can't wait to return to Axarquia!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. It was great to read you enjoyed the house and the area. We were sorry that it appears that you had issues with wifi in some areas. Normally it is perfect all across the house. We have had 8 people all on it and it is fine inside and out. We would have looked into this if we had known. We hope that you will come back and spend some more time getting to know the area although it seems you did so much whilst you were there.
An enjoyable stay
We had an enjoyable stay, loved the master bedroom with the opening out onto the "Roof top Solarium" in actual fact we spent most of our time up there, Tosh and Sherry were excellent hosts who fed us with all we needed to know, excellent access to the villa and well equipped, set in fabulous surroundings we really enjoyed our stay .
Many thanks for submitting a review. It was good to hear you enjoyed your stay and that Tosh and Sherry looked after you. I do hope you have come home feeling relaxed
It was a spacious well equipped house in a stunning location.
The arrangements for meeting the house keeper went very smoothly and instructions for getting to the property from the airport via an excellent supermarket were great. We found the owners very helpful with numerous queries prior to flying out. The house worked well for our party of 5 and the various fans were essential to us given the temperatures experienced at night times. We ate supper each day on the upstairs terrace with it’s superb views, excellent bird watching and stunning night skies. The pool was a real treat, kept spotless by the extremely helpful and friendly manager and the sunshades and pool loungers were very much appreciated. What doesn’t come across so well on the photos for the property is the breathtaking mountain behind the house and sheer scale of the far reaching views. The kitchen was well equipped for a family who did a lot of self catering and the gas BBQ was a real bonus. The manager was able to make very good recommendations for places to eat and visit. We had lovely trips to Malaga, Velez Malaga, Nerja, Comares, Torre del Mar (closest beach) and lots of pretty mountain top villages. It is a lovely area to visit and though we enjoyed the serious islolation of being up in the mountain away from it all, getting anywhere fast is difficult due to the extremely windy roads....but we were on holiday, so that was fine!!
It was a pleasure to host such a lovely family and as owners we are so pleased when someone comes along and feels the same way about the area as we do. We are glad the house met your needs and thank you for taking the time to write a review. Will take on board your point about the views and try to take some more visual photos so that it more clear on the photos. Thank you Dora
Il ya 2 magasins dans le village, ils vendent à jour les articles jour et un peu de tout. Il ya 2 situé dans le centre du village, bien qu'ils ne sont pas signe écrit. Sur la place, à la droite des marches de l'église.
