Nous avons récemment récupéré notre maison contrat de location terminé. Nous l'avons remise en état et nous souhaitons aujourd'hui nous concenter sur la location saisonnière.

Lovely house. Wrong location
This is a great 4 bedroomed house over three floors. Full of character with a huge garage leading to the parking area at the rear. Off this is a gate leading to a garden with private pool measuring 8m x 4m. Not massive and not too deep but ideal for cooling off during a very hot period.
We did think at one point that it was haunted as there were strange noises but the house was big and echoey and we managed to explain them all!! Treading on the floor outside the first floor bathroom rattles the light downstairs!!
We couldn’t get access until 5pm when we met Fred who brought the keys. He spoke absolutely no English (I know we should speak French but mine is very basic and learned from my far away school days) so the handover was very hit and miss. Having shown us round the house he then proceeded to spend 2 hours cleaning the house ready for our stay!! This should surely have been done before we arrived especially as we weren’t allowed in until 5pm. He also appeared during our stay to cut the grass and check the pool but this didn’t trouble us at all - my only comment would be that every time we saw him he was wearing nothing but the same skimpy pair of yellow shorts!!! He was a nice chap though. Despite his best efforts the house was grubby - loads of cobwebs etc and just generally in need of some refurbishment (replace broken floor tiles outside bathroom rather than covering with a rug.
Apart from the Chateau doing wine tastings there was nothing in the village. There was a small shop that sold bread and other essentials and did some basic meals - steak and chicken kebabs - very nice but limited. The locals did gather there for a drink in the evenings. There was a snack bar in what seemed to be a back garden but we didn’t visit (it did only serve snacks). The restaurant by the canal was actually shut with no sign of ever having been open. There were lovely restaurants in nearby villages though but these were a drive away.
A pizza van did come every Tuesday and the Pizzas were good.
There were loads of leaflets in the house but perhaps a brief summary of what’s on and where would be very useful.
On departure Fred turned up but didn’t tell us so we were waiting for him for 45 minutes before we realised he was gardening!!
Overall we loved the house but the housekeeping could have been better. The village is very limited and an hour from the coast. Ideal place to do nothing. It does sound negative but we did have a fabulous stay.
