Luxury on the river
Wow! Just wow! Our adult children arrived there before us and said it best in their text to us - this house is awesome! I don't know where to begin...perhaps with the straight-out-of-a-magazine kitchen? Or perhaps with the Green Egg grill made available to guests. Or the garage full of bikes and toys also available to guests. Or the riverfront patio and backyard complete with kayak and paddle board. The bedrooms are luxurious. The "bunk room" - with the coolest built in bunks - was the most popular spot for the kids and family movie night but mostly we hung around the HUGE kitchen island and rustic table for morning coffee and all our meals. We panicked when we figured out there was no coffee maker BUT - do not worry! There are coffee presses and the coffee was wonderful - be sure to give that a try. You are really close to both Annapolis and Baltimore for great sight seeing. You are also close to available amenities - groceries, farmers market fruits and veggies, etc. And of course the best thing is to just hang out on the river.
Communication with the property manager and the owner was easy and both were very responsive. This is obviously someone's home and not just a rental. It was very special to be able to make this beautiful house our own for our vacation.
A Lovely Home in an enjoyable setting
Our family of 11 (grandparents, parents and grandchildren) thoroughly enjoyed our 6 days/nights in this beautiful home on a lot on a quiet residential street overlooking a cove of the Severn river. about 15 minutes drive from downtown Annapolis. The home is filled with owner photographs, mementos and acquisitions of African and other native arts; the owners also left water sports equipment (Kyack, paddle board, fishing gear, etc.), bicycles and other sports equipment for our enjoyment.. The atmosphere created by the home's contents made us feel like visitors, not renters. We had no major problems with anything about the house; minor problems were quickly handled with the assistance of the property manager (Wendy H.) , who was a pleasure to work with. The only drawback of this home for our group of 3 adult couples and 5 teenagers, including 3 college age girls, was the lack of 1 or 2 additional full bathrooms. Sincere thanks to the owner, Katherine Bain!
What a lovely place
We rented this home for a family vacation. It exceeded all expectations. The setting is stunning and the home is beautiful, but also warm, welcoming and comfortable. It felt like we were guests in a home where wonderful people live. Loved looking at the pictures, the art and the tremendous collection of books.
I stayed in this beautiful home for my daughter’s wedding in Annapolis Maryland
Your house was just amazing the amenities the decor the chicken coop the view incredible plenty of room to entertain all my guests my boy even caught a couple fish off the pier I would highly recommend this house to anyone traveling to Annapolis thank you so much for letting us live in your house for a week it was great
Beautiful, large, and very comfortable home
We all had a wonderful time in this beautiful home. It's cozy and comfortable with great water views from so many places.
The kitchen is wonderful, clearly designed and equipped by people who enjoy cooking.
We have mostly vacationed at the ocean so it took some getting used to a murky river. But both the small sand area in front of the house and walkable community beaches were terrific for small children.
The convenience to DC, Baltimore and Annapolis was a big plus for those needing to work.
Katherine was very helpful in responding to our inquiries and was wonderfully responsive in helping us adapt the small library on the first floor as a bedroom for our wheelchair bound child. Also even though this is a family's permanent home, they made space available in the closets, dressers, pantry etc.
We highly recommend this magical getaway so convenient to DC and Baltimore!
We are glad you enjoyed your family reunion here. There had been many weeks of rain preceding your stay which does make the Bay and Severn river a bit murky but still great for swimming and small kids.
Like staying at your friends house
Our experience was great. One of the owners met us and gave us a tour of the house. It was a very welcoming experience. It was spacious enough for our family reunion and comfortably slept 4 kids in the big bunk room, two couples in separate doubles and the two grandmas. This is also a great jumping off point for DC, Annapolis, Baltimore and we even drove the 90 minutes to get in a tour of Gettysburg.
The house was right on a pier on a lake. We weren’t able to swim because we got rain every single day of our trip but it was a beautiful view! I highly recommend the sunsets.
They also have a chicken coup and it was very cool to get fresh eggs every morning!
I would definitely recommend this home for a big family reunion. It’s definitely family friendly as the home is in a nice quiet suburb of Annapolis. I also have to mention, the nearby Italian restaurant (Carmine’s maybe) had amazing food. They ship the dough from New York!
So sorry the weather didn't cooperate Liz. The property lends itself to being outside but glad you found lots of the inside treasures and museums to explore in Annapolis, DC and Baltimore.
