This place gave me a peaceful feeling It was the cleanest place I have ever stayed in. It was well equipped with everything you could need. The cleanliness was overly impressive. Everything felt new. We never sleep without white noise and there was a fan there that made our rest so much better. I am so thankful to this property and it's owners for a million different reasons. Thanks for thinking of everything and sharing this with us. It may our trip very smooth and wonderful! I had some things due for work and I didn't know if they would have WIFI or not. It was such a blessing in many different way. Thank you!
Happy to have you. My wife prides herself on keeping the house as clean as possible. She always cleans the hotels and houses we stay in when we go on vacation as soon as we walk through the doors.
Cute little house
Nothing fancy but clean and great access to Norris Lake.
Perfect home for a quick weekend getaway. The house is very clean and located within minutes to the Powell Valley Marina where we were able to launch our boat for $7.00. Doug was great to work with and answered our questions prior to arrival.
Perfect Get Away
Our trip to Norris Lake was a quick one..so only spent 2 nights in this cute little house. We were exploring the area and it was so nice to come back to the solitude of a house rather than a motel. The house is as described and very clean!
The house is as advertised very clean. Cute and decorated with charm. It is really convenient to the marina. Perfect space for us after long days on the lake.
Perfect getaway in a charmingly decorated home.
I definitely recommend a stay at "Aunt Jan's Place" . This home has all the conveniences anyone could ask for. The place was spotless. It is a wonderfully decorated home with quaint and quirky decorating touches throughout. The neighborhood is very quiet. Doug was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and places to go. The Powell Valley Resort and Marina is a short walk away. They have a basic menu and you can rent kayaks and fishing boats, although the fishing boats go for, I think it was $380 a day.
There are many marinas on Lake Norris where you can find good meals and in some cases entertainment. Get a free map of the the Lake Norris area at the Powell Marina. The roads to these marinas are basic, narrow, hilly and curvy country roads but no need for an SUV. For me driving these roads was part of the fun. Use extreme caution at night.
Don't miss an excellent meal at the McCloud Mountain restaurant, a 30 minute drive up a scenic, steep and twisty two lane road. Great views.
Doug was so accommodating. I missed a chance to go fishing with him which I really regretted. My fault. Cove Lake State Park is about a half hour away and has a small lake or maybe a "big pond" as one locals jokingly described the lake. They rent flat bottom boats with paddles and life jackets for $15 for a half day. There is a popular swimming area known as the Cedar Creek bridge about 20 minutes drive from the house where people jump from the bridge. Be careful there. Wear protection on your feet as the climb back to the bridge is rocky.
You will not be disappointed staying here. It is so homey and comfortable. The beds are comfortable and the central AC works great. Oh, La Follette is pronounced La 'F'ollette, accent on the F. Known affectionately to some locals as "Laughalot."
