Beautiful, the walking paths and views were lovely.
I would highly recommend Cormorant Cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a very comfortable residence. You feel like you are home. The grounds are beautiful. During our walks we saw horses, donkeys, cows and the lake. It is a working farm. One morning the sheep came through the courtyard. It was like traveling back in time.
Very scenic location, easy access to Galway/Shannon/Adare
The cottage is located on a lovely estate, a great place to relax. We found the estate manager Carrie to be helpful, and the owner of the castle to be warm and welcoming. The cottage easily accommodated our family of 6 adults. The furniture is a bit tired, but comfy. Kitchen is more of a kitchenette, but we managed to cook simple meals plus tea & coffee. If you prefer a soft bed pillow, bring one, otherwise just plan to enjoy your stay!
A lovely week in Ireland on the grounds of a castle estate.
After passing through the outer gate, it's a 5 minute drive over the estate grounds until you reach the archway leading into a courtyard. After passing through another archway, you enter the courtyard where Cormorant Cottage is located. The buildings were once quarters for the workers of the estate, stables and work rooms. The cottage has a large entryway, living room, dining area, kitchen and laundry room. Up the stairs are three bedrooms, one en suite. The bathrooms are small and dated. The cottage is furnished with antiques and older upholstered pieces. Gordon, the estate manager, was extremely accommodating, giving us a tour of the castle and gardens and solving the one issue we had. The grounds are perfect for a stroll. The location outside Gort was perfect for exploring County Clare and Galway, with the Cliffs of Moher an hour away.
Make sure you leave time to go to Corofin and Bofey Quinns Bar for traditional Irish music, Wednesday and Saturday nights. Be ready with a song to sing.
Lovely country cottage
We were quite pleased with our time in Conmorant Cottage. The cottage is huge, especially for three people. We had a ton of space! The kitchen had all of the conveniences. Since we were left with a welcome basket of a dozen fresh eggs, butter, bread, milk, juice, and fruit, we made good use of it all on our first night in the cottage. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer so we were able to take care of laundry in the cottage. Beds were quite comfortable and we all slept well during our stay.
The estate is charming and we wandered around daily, hiking around. There are horses and donkeys, who are quite friendly.
We had a lovely stay at Conmorant Cottage.
My husband & I visited Ireland to celebrate my 50th birthday. Our son gave the trip to us as a birthday gift. (Thank you, Kyle!)
First of all, as we drove up to the gates, I felt like I was driving onto the set of "Beauty & the Beast." The castle entrance & gates were amazing. As we took the road through the woods & fields, a sense of magic settled upon us. (Well, it IS Ireland!)
One can imagine the clock turning backward in time as the castle & outer houses appear.
We were greeted by a polite young man who showed us our cottage. We were shocked at how large it was.
The cottage was very well kept, clean and comfortable. We felt like we had stepped back in time. I kept saying to my husband," Honey, there's a castle in our back yard!"
The central location to all the areas we wanted to visit was perfect. I would recommend this rental to couples who want a quiet get-away.
Thank you, Edward, for a wonderful vacation home.
Live the Castle life in a cosy home
Found on the internet, we knew what to expect, but in reality this was even better. Great place for a getaway, as you come to rest once you enter the gates of the castle grounds. But than again not just in the middle of nowwhere, as the great spots in Co. Galway and Co. Clare can be explored within 2 hours drive. The house was full of charm, furniture and house were a perfect fit to feel at ease and yet something different than the usual B&B. Kids played outside on the lawn and in the woodland, whilst we finished another book and another bottled of wine. Truely one of the highlights of our visit to Ireland
Autres Activités: Birdwatching dans le Burren et de la cueillette des fleurs. Pêche au brochet sur notre lac privé.
