Great location, but house itself could use some refreshing.
Had another great stay at this Chesapeake Bay house. It has its own little beach that we took advantage of. We did a lot of kayaking and beach exploring also. Renee, the person you deal with for the rental is very accommodating and easy to work with. The only detraction's that we noticed, and they didn't have much effect at all, was many of the screens needed replacement, especially on the "screened-in porch" which we would have liked to use on one of the evenings which was kind of buggy. But we made the best and all was well.
Glad you enjoyed your stay.. So sorry for the screens the last wind storm tore those but they will be replaced just couldn't get the contractor in time between visitors and sure didn't want them working there while visitors are they. So glad you were able to enjoy the Bay with kayaking and beaching! Happy Fall and maybe we will see you soon! Thanks for visiting!
Beautiful, peaceful, private cottage on a quiet island...
Visited with my husband and our 4 sons a few weeks ago. This place was exactly what I was looking for. We were so excited crossing the bridge to Gwynn Island, and just across the bridge, if you look out the drivers side window, all you see is water! The drive to the cottage is really nice, with lot's of tree lined streets, and pulling up to the cottage is amazing, it's like your being welcomed by the towering trees, and then suddenly a clearing, and the Chesapeake bay in view, and the cottage to your left! We were greeted there by lot's of cute little frogs that are often found hopping around under the cottage! The cottage was very nice, clean, and "beachy", and the views are amazing from every window! The beach was also very nice, and private. We saw almost no one at our end of the beach, except the occasional beach walkers from the nearby RV resort. My kids spent most of the week swimming in the bay, and digging in the sand. The first few nights it stormed and we could sit right in the living room, and watch the lightning over the bay. We also enjoyed getting up early, and watching the AMAZING sunrise. On our last day, we saw dolphins in the bay! We also ventured across the bridge into town, and visited a few of the neat little consignment shops, and the Matthews visitor center, and a little pizza place. The only cons were that the screens on the porch were broken, and taped up, so that was kind of disappointing, but I had the whole huge deck to take in the views, so not a huge deal for me. And finally, if you do visit Gwynn Island, bring bug spray! There are lot's of flies on the beach that like to bite! Other than those 2 minor details, this was a wonderful, perfect trip, and I would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants a nice relaxing vacation, in a private house, that is truly right on the beach!
Thank you so much! We all love the Gwynn's Island beach house. So glad you had a good time and yes it seems in the past few weeks the flies have come upon us... sorry as we don't like those either... As far as the screens sorry they got torn and we could not get a contractor in there to repair due to tenants there and we did not want to interrupt anyone's vacation with a hammer going, so we felt best to leave it alone. I'm sure you can understand as I would not want to hear that on vacation.. But they will be repaired for sure. Thank you so much for taking care of the cottage during your visit and so glad you enjoyed! Glad you love Mathews as we do as well and hope you can visit us again! It's always nice when you enjoy your hard earned vacation! Happy Labor Day! Come back now ya'll you hear!!
We had a most enjoyable stay at the beachfront house on Gwynn. It was easy to get to but still felt secluded and private. The scenery, looking out to the Chesapeake Bay, Osprey nest, and the sunsets were beautiful. Renee, the agent was very accommodating, we are definitely going to come back!
Daniel, so glad you enjoyed the Beach cottage. You were a great guest and we look forward to your return visit. As you said it is a wonderful get away to enjoy the beach, nature, sunsets and the Chesapeake Bay! So glad you enjoyed and look forward to your return.
The perfect house ...
This was an absolute perfect house to just reset and enjoy the island. We loved everything about our stay and will be booking again soon.
