We stayed in this lovely gite during August. We had brilliant weather, this area really does have it's own micro-climate. The gite was better than described, it was spotless and well equiped. Even providing honey from the owner's bees; more can be obtained from the owners making excellent gifts for those back home. Our hosts Mike, Tania and their children Tabitha and Keenan were friendly and helpful with any of our requests. They know the area well, suggesting days out etc. There are lovely local walks, and you can borrow bikes.
We were a couple on our own, but rental would be ideal for everyone young or old, with or without children. We will definately be back and recommend Mike and Tania to our friends and family.

We had a lovely week's stay in the three bed-roomed Saanen gite. The gite was very clean and very well equipped for our stay. We all loved the swimming pool (very necessary as the temperature averaged about 36 c in our week!) and our boys loved the table tennis. Our teenaged daughter appreciated the wi-fi! Fo the adults, it was a lovely relaxing place to stay with all mod-cons provided.
There was lots to do both n the immediate area and further field and our hosts very knowledgeable and helpful - especially when we had motoring problems!
We had a wonderful holiday in a delightful area of France.

Home from home!
A fantastic place for all the family. Beautifully restored buildings, lovely safe environment for the children to play in and a superb pool for all to enjoy. We have been going for the last seven years and have loved every visit to La Chevrerie. Mike and Tania are the perfect hosts and are so accommadating. The local cafes and restaurants at Chef Boutonne and Melle are great for a coffee or lunch. But most of all we love to enjoy the local surroundings by walking down the lanes, cycling and swimming in the pool! Something for all the family!

A great place to stay!
We stayed in the Poitevine Gite for a week with our two young children and had a great time. The building has been beautifully restored by the owners and was it was spotless inside. The whole area is fenced and makes for a really safe place for the kids to play. The swiming pool is also like new, and is fenced around so children can't get to it unless it has been opened. The owners Mike and Tania were very helpful with anything we needed.

Highly recommended!
We spent 2 weeks in the Poitevin gite and could not recommend it highly enough. The house was spotless and exactly as advertised. Tania and Mike could not have been more helpful and welcoming - including warm croissants delivered every morning. We have two young children and there is a wide open space in front of the house for them to play in full sight of the dining area. The pool is fantastic and completely safe for the kids with a fence and an alarm. Although the other 2 Gites were occupied during the stay, there is a real sense of privacy for each house and yet our children made friends with the neighbours and all entertained each other. We travelled by Ferry - the house is a straightforward 5-hour drive from Cherbourg. La Rochelle, Poitiers and many small villages are all within 1.5-hours drive, with the local bar & restaurant a 5 minute walk away well worth a visit. Thanks for everything Tania, we'll be back.

Another relaxing week at La Chevrerie
This was our second holiday at La Chevrerie. Last year we stayed in Rove, this year we stayed in Poitevine because Rove was already booked. We were not disappointed because Poitevine offers the same excellent standard of accommodation. We enjoyed the swimming pool, games room and playing games on the large lawn with the other guests. Our favourite day out was our trip to Marais Poitevine. La Rochelle and Cognac are also worth a visit. We hope to return again.

Great accommodation in a lovely setting
The effort and attention that has gone into the restoration of Poitevine and the neighbouring gites is clear. The result is attractive and practical accommodation that is a pleasure to relax in. The lawns and swimming pool area give lots of space to spread out in. It is the perfect place for family (and extended family) gatherings.
The surrouding countryside is quiet and restful and perfect for exploring by bicycle with plenty of villages and hamlets to stop at. Melle is a pretty town with all the facilities you need and beautiful tenth century churches to visit. Further afield Niort is a really attractive prefectural town with lots to see.

As a young family we had a brilliant week with Mike and Tanya in August... so much so, the children are already asking when we are going back ! It was so lovely to be able to relax, with the children having plenty of amusement, whether it was playing table tennis or going to the play area nearby. The local amenities are great, we enjoyed various markets and went to a local fete which we would highly recommend. The gite was spotless and had everything we needed for catering for a family. It was a luxury to have fresh bread and croissants delivered to our door every morning and not to have to think about breakfast !

Wonderful gite and pool
We had a wonderful two-weeks in the Gite. It was clean and well kept, it felt like we were one of the first people to stay there. The pool was fantastic too, sparkling new and just the right size. The daily delivery of croissants and bread was great. Supermarket a short drive away. We were surprised to find how much there was to do in the area - Venise Vert was well worth the hour in the car, also Futuroscope, and La Rochelle. As the weather was so good we didn't need to venture out much, and also enjoyed the ping pong and table football, even better at no extra charge! Mike and Tania were always about to solve any problems and ask any questions.
It might have been aided by the constant hot, dry and sunny weather but this seems like an idyllic place to spend two weeks every year.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Poitevine La Chevrerie. The gites were beautifully restored and spotlesly clean. Mike Tania and their family were perfect hosts always on hand if you needed any information, but also respected your privacy. The pool was fantastic to cool off when the weather was hot, also lots of safety features around the pool for anyone with children. The welcome pack was excellent never had anything as good before. Lovely countryside and peaceful surroundings. Mike & Tania will let you use their bikes at no extra charge. There is plenty for children to do, lots of animals table tennis and table football to keep them entertained with a very large garden for them to play. Thank you Mike Tania & family.
