We have just returned from two lovely weeks in Anne-Marie's villa in Fodele.The villa is spacious, well equipped and has fantastic views. The next door neighbour is extremely kind and helpful. We managed to do quite a bit of exploring but it was rather hot so go out early to avoid the heat and the crowds at the main attractions like Knossos. I have to say that the main criticism of the villa is the lack of air conditioning, it made it particularly difficult to sleep at night especially in the ground floor room and as it was too hot to close the windows it meant that we struggled with the mosquitos even with the fly screens and were badly bitten on a regular basis despite the screens,machines, coils, sprays and repellents! The locals are fantastic, don't miss going to the Dolphin bar on the beach and say hello to Nikos for us, Katrin Taverna was also good and we were taxied home by the owner when he found out that we were walking! Fodele village is lovely, we particularly liked the springs at Argyroupoli , Lake Kournas and Georgioupoli are especially picturesque,and Water City was a great hit with the girls.Book on line and print your voucher before you go and you save 15%, we didn't know this until we got there and it is 25 Euros to get in and goes on height not age of the kids. Spend a very good week here soaking up the sun and enjoying the sea and mountain views. Villa is comfortable, well equiped and maintained and spotlessly clean. The grounds were bigger than expected with plenty of space around the pool and a generous selection of outside furniture. Especially enjoyed the hammock. Paul the local agent was very helpful. Local beach, tavernas and village within easy reach. Well located for vising Knossos and other archaelogical sites which are within easy driving distance - although our daughters preferred the day spent at Water City! All in all a great holiday - THANKS

everything the two other reviews say are all true. it was a great villa with everything you could possible want and more to be honest. booking the villa is a hussle free experience and the couple who look after the villa in crete were wonderful they treat it like their own with anything you need a hand with is never a problem.
the villa is spotless and i mean spotless its all brand new was very impressed with it.
so as you have read we loved the villa and loved the holiday you would be making the right choice in booking this villa as you wont be disappointed trust me i looked at many villas on line.
oh one last note when you go make sure you go into the village to "smoothie georges" restaunt, his food is great and his such a great charactor well worth a visit tell him catalina and paul sent you. happy holidays

From first contact through departure, this was an outstanding holiday. Anne-Marie made sure everything was arranged perfectly and things went exactly as hoped.

We travelled as a family of 2 adults and 2 children (aged 3 and 5). Although the deep pool and steep stairs in the villa might not seem ideal for small children, with a little supervision we had no problems over a 10 day break and the kids loved every second! Speaking of which - the large pool was excellent and spacious garden was a real pleasure to spend time in.

The villa was superbly equipped and located close to the local village and beach. You could easily spend a week without going more than a few miles from the house. A hire car is necessary to get to/from the villa and also allow exploration of the island, and there are many great beaches and coves to discover within an hour or so from Fodele.

My family and I have no problem in recommending the villa to families, couples or groups looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday within easy reach of Crete's various sights and attractions.
