Excellent holiday property!

My family and I (incl. two teenaged children) had the pleasure of staying at this property the last two weeks of July. The villa is very well laid out with tasteful (and expensive) furniture. The kitchen is very modern with all appliances (incl. washing machine and dishwasher), and the property is very clean. There is a good sized swimming pool. The garden is maintained daily by a very friendly and helpful caretaker. Although only 10-15 minutes from the town centre and the beaches, the area is quiet and suitable for all.

Vilamoura has a beautiful marina surrounded by various shops and many superb restaurants serving delicious gourmet food at reasonable prices. All restaurants we visited were superb (I can especially recommend the shellfish cataplana!).

There are also many other good restaurants around town priding themselves in always serving fresh food, and there are plenty of bars/cafes; some quiet and relaxing, others more lively.

The entire Vilamoura area is truly beautiful, and there is a small sightseeing train which is highly recommended giving you an overview and flavour of this wonderful part of the Algarve.

Although the nearest mini supermarket is only a few minutes away by foot, this is understocked and overpriced. It is worth walking a little longer to a proper supermarket - Jaffers - which stocks everything you need for the house. They also have a good deli with a good selection of meats and cheeses.

We found it very difficult to hire a car in Vilamoura at the time we were there, so I recommend this is done at the airport, or alternatively in nearby Albufeira (€20 by cab).

We all had a very enjoyable time, and will definitely return in the near future.

Very reliable owner

We have booked this apartment. When we arrived, there where some problems. But after contacting Antonio and the owner this has been solved immediately. The owner Pam Ryder is a very reliable owner who youu realy can trust.

The apartment is perfect for a family with or without children. It is only a few minuts walk to the centre of Vilamoura.

If we go to Vilamoura again I will contact Pam Ryder again.

Once again a great holiday, will be back next year

This is our second visit and again it was amazing. Love this place because it is spacy and bright, with two terraces leading to the pool area, lovely layout and homely feel.

Villamoura is really special and we will be returning again. The area by the Marina is wonderful , you have a couple of amazing restaurants on your doorstep however, we also chilled a lot at home.

This place just ticks so many boxes for us.

We will be back.

Amazing holiday in a lovely villa by the marina

My husband, parents and I went to Vilamoura for 1 week in August, I only wish we had booked longer, I find it hard to fault anything here. The apartment was spacious enough for the 4 of us, one room had twin beds but pushed together so acted like a double. The lounge dining room kitchen is open plan and the kitchen is well presented.

The setting is beautiful, the grounds are so well cared-for, loads of trees and beautiful shrubs and grass, because there are only 12 units, it never feels really busy or gets noisy, at times it felt like we were in a private villa. We had a small leak in the basin but this was dealt with efficiently, the caretaker even though does not speak English was very friendly and helpful.

The only downside was that we only had one remote to the property gates, so we had to plan our outings carefully.

A disappointing run down apartment

Our booking with Pam before arrival was excellent. Very quick to reply to our emails and the information was thorough. We was looking forward to our only annual holiday with our young children.

However on arrival we were greeted with a broken cot, electric sockets with exposed wires, a bathroom so mouldy the ceiling was black, dirty and torn towels and the safe did not work. These were just the main issues that stood out initially on our arrival. As the house keeper did not speak English it was tricky to get this sorted so we made a call (one of many) to the owners in the US. The cot was patched up to work but then provided with heavily stained sheets. The safe didn't work for 2 days until finally we was given a key for it. The sockets were only repaired 3 days later as was the towels replaced. However the bathroom was only cleaned 1 week into our stay. In that week we discovered many other issues. The bed mattresses were so old and uncomfortable. The bathroom lights were showing exposed wires, the bbq took 2 hours to clean before it could be used. The ensuite bathroom had a leak from the sink which was causing more mould. The other bathroom toilet overflowed on the floor and no matter how much you cleaned it, it constantly smiled foul. There were other smaller issues too but I only have so many characters I can use!

Despite providing all this information to the owners during our stay and again when we returned home along with photographic evidence, they dismissed our issues and suggested we may need to choose a property in a higher price bracket. Personally we think that even if you consider this a budget property, it should not mean dirty and broken. Budget just means less frills. This property is in urgent need of repairs and a very thorough clean. On the owners admission, they have not been to the property in 3 years and seem oblivious to the condition it is in. Their Portugese housekeeper is an excellent gardener at the property. If only he cared as much about the apartment.

Even if you halved the price of this property, I would not recommend staying here. We tried to make the most of our holiday but in the end we just wanted to go home. Our 2014 holiday was totally ruined.

Réponse du propriétaire: The comments by this client are at best exaggerated and at worst untruthful with the sole intention of attempting to negotiate a refund. At the beginning of the holiday after the initial contact they were told if they were not happy alternative accommodation would be found. We have had 17 clients this summer with no complaints until this one. We will deal now with the main complaints: Cot:The cot was mounted incorrectly and wobbled. The caretaker fixed the problem but we do take full responsibility for not having it ready on his arrival.  Electric socket with exposed wires: the socket was loose and if pulled wires were visible, the caretaker fixed this. Mouldy bathroom: the bathroom had a small grey patch on the ceiling , the cleaner removed this and told the client to ventilate while using. Towels: They were frayed but not torn However, we do take responsibility and reprimanded the cleaner.  Safe: the safe works in perfect order with English instructions. Safe keys were given to make it easier for the client. They are the first clients that are not able to operate the safe. Stained sheets: We asked for photograph which were never received. The cleaner and the caretaker testified that the sheets were clean The only reason why it took 3 days to be resolved because the clients were not at home when both the cleaner or caretaker went there. Mattresses:Brand new furniture including mattresses and equipment was done in 2008, we rent out the property about 4 months a year, so in relative usage terms they are not old. And no one else has complained about the mattresses being uncomfortable.  BBQ: the BBQ is outside in the terrace under trees. Possible to have had leaves, cannot testify.  Overflowed toilet: caretaker testifies that he does not find any problem in the toilet and it is working in perfect condition.  We did not dismiss the clients complaints, we spoke twice on the phone, and took responsibility and apologised for not having the cot ready on his arrival and the towels. The socket and bathroom ceiling were also dealt with. Clients also complained that the baby high chair being a risk. Surely a high chair that does not adhere to safety regulations would not retail. We stay at the property every year, did not stay this year, but last time was in May 2013, not 3 years ago !!!!  We are very sorry that our property was not satisfactory to these clients as we do pride ourselves in havng 'happy' clients.

Lovely property in perfect setting

We used the recommended driver who was very helpful, even a stop at supermarket to get the heavy stuff on the way. Apartment was clean and had everything we needed. Nice plot, secluded in the corner but very sunny and close to the pool. Local supermarket easy walk away and well stocked. In fact, so good we're booking to go back again June 2014!
